For the remaining four teams in the NFL playoffs, there is just one game separating them from the Super Bowl and a shot at sporting immortality. We are ranking the remaining teams from least, to most likely to win the Super Bowl, with a look at why we think each team has a chance to win, or lose their next two games.

4: Washington Commanders

The Commanders have been the surprise package of the 2024 NFL season, riding a new head coach and a rookie quarterback all the way to the NFC Championship. Along the way, they upset many’s Super Bowl favorite, the Lions, in Detroit. Still, there is a reason why FanDuel has them +850 to hoist the Lombardi.

Why they might lose

If the Commanders reach the Super Bowl, Jayden Daniels will be the first rookie to ever play in the biggest game there is. He has the weight of history against him. They also have to travel to Philadelphia with the 18th-ranked rush defense per EPA/Play, per SumerSports. Offensively, Washington should hold up well, but we worry about this defense.

Why they might win

Jayden Daniels. Kliff Kingsbury deserves credit for designing an offensive scheme to suit Daniels in his rookie season, but it’s the first year player from LSU that should be getting the most praise. If Washington wins, it will have been down to an elite performance from Daniels and this offense.

3: Buffalo Bills

We think the Bills can beat anyone on their day, we just don’t know if they can go into Kansas City and beat the Chiefs. FanDuel only has KC as 1.5 favorites, which is about as close as it gets. The Bills beat the Chiefs earlier in the season and will need a repeat performance on Sunday.

Why they might lose

They’re playing the Chiefs in Kansas City in January. Not many teams are able to go into Arrowhead and beat them at this time of year. The Chiefs have been unremarkable statistically this year, but don’t let that fool you, they are capable of beating anyone. If the Bills don’t play perfect football, we don’t see them winning. Those are the margins.

Why they might win

For want of repeating ourselves somewhat, this game also comes down to the performance of the quarterback. Josh Allen has been essentially unstoppable all year with his arm and his legs. If Kansas City can’t contain him, Buffalo wins this game. Sean McDermott is a good defensive mind too and will be focused on stopping Travis Kelce. Do that, and Buffalo advances.

2: Philadelphia Eagles

With the best overall roster left in the playoffs, the Eagles are now favorites to win the Super Bowl, per FanDuel. We still don’t have them as our favorites, but it’s close. The passing game has been unspectacular all season, but time and time again this team has shown it doesn’t matter to them.

Why they might lose

If Washington is able to get into a shootout with the Eagles, Jalen Hurts and the passing game will need to play better to stand any chance of winning. We don’t believe it is Hurts’ fault for the most part, with uncreative offensive scheming not getting receivers open. Still, the Eagles will be wary of going touchdown for touchdown with Washington.

Why they might win

The Eagles are 6.5 point favorites currently, and that is due mostly to how talented this roster is. There is no position you can pinpoint as an obvious weakness, and as is often said in the playoffs, “it’s Jimmys and Joes, not Xs and Os that win in January.”

1: Kansas City Chiefs

All season long, the Chiefs haven’t looked like a Super Bowl winning team, winning games in weird ways and struggling to score many points. However, as ever, they just know how to win and especially, how to win in the playoffs. Andy Reid has turned his team into a cold-hearted winning machine, and we expect that to continue.

Why they might lose

They get outscored. We understand that is how every team loses in every sport, but for KC, a consistent them all year is winning despite a low-scoring offense. If Buffalo is able to score more than 30 points, we can’t see how this offense keeps up, given they barely reached that mark all season.

Why they might win

The regular season Chiefs become the playoff Chiefs, and everything we have written about this team becomes moot. Travis Kelce had another good season as a receiver, but suddenly looked twice as explosive against the Texans last week, for instance. Patrick Mahomes may need to shoulder more burden than he has for most of the year, too, but we know he is more than capable.
