15. Luiz Díaz

Luis Díaz made a name for himself in his home country before moving to FC Porto and then Liverpool, where he quickly adapted to the rigours of the Premier League. Since then, he has established himself as one of Europe's top talents thanks to his speed and dribbling skills.

14. Iván René Valenciano

Iván René Valenciano was one of the most prolific strikers ever in the Colombian league, with 217 goals, according to the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS). He also had an impact at international level, scoring 13 goals in 30 appearances for 'Los Cafeteros' (Transfermarkt).

13. Faryd Mondragón

Along with René Higuita, Faryd Mondragón was one of the most emblematic Colombian goalkeepers of all time. He achieved his greatest success with Turkey's Galatasaray, where he won two league titles and a cup.

12. Ivan Córdoba

Ivan Córdoba is considered by many one of the best Colombian defenders ever. He built a fine career at, for the most part, Internazionale, with whom he picked up no less than five Scudettos and one Champìons League.

11. Arnoldo Iguarán

Arnoldo Iguarán was one of the best Colombian footballers of the past century, who managed to find the back of the net 25 times for his country (Transfermarkt). His longest spell was with Millonarios, where his many goals made him a legend.

10. Juan Cuadrado

One of Colombia's modern stars, Juan Cuadrado built an impressive career in Serie A with Fiorentina, Juventus and Internazionale, with a spell at Chelsea in between. Quick, agile and versatile, he wore the shirt of 'Los Cafeteros' more than 115 times and represented his country at several major tournaments.

9. Adolfo Valencia

'El Tren' Adolfo Valencia, known for his ferocious speed and power, scored 14 goals in 37 appearances for Colombia (Transfermarkt). At club level, he wore the jersey of Independiente Santa Fe, Bayern Munich and Atlético Madrid, among others, before retiring in 2004.

8. Freddy Rincón

Freddy Rincón was the first Colombian ever to play for Real Madrid. However, he spent most of his career in Brazil, where he won the FIFA Club World Cup with Corinthians in 2000.

7. Willington Ortiz

Willington Ortiz (pictured left) is often considered one of Colombia's best ever players, scoring 12 goals for 'Los Cafeteros,' according to Transfermarkt, and many more for Millonarios, Deportivo Cali and América de Cali.

6. Mario Yepes

To the Colombian defence now, where Mario Yepes was a mainstay for many years. Nicknamed 'Super Mario', the centre-back represented his country 102 times (Transfermarkt) and played for big teams such as River Plate, PSG and AC Milan.

5. Faustino Asprilla

Another Colombian striker of great quality. Faustino Asprilla's most notable career spells came at Newcastle United and AC Parma, with whom he picked up an impressive five trophies in Italy.

4. René Higuita

'El Loco' René Higuita is another cult hero in Colombian football, known for his infamous scorpion kick, executed in 1995. The goalkeeper spent most of his career in his home country, however, for which he even scored 3 goals in 68 appearances (Transfermarkt).

3. Radamel Falcao

'El Tigre' Radamel Falcao, one of the best strikers of his generation, certainly deserves his place in this list. He made his name with River Plate and then won several trophies with FC Porto and Atlético Madrid, before passing through Manchester United, Chelsea and Monaco, amongst other clubs. He is also his country's leading all-time leading top scorer.

2. James Rodriguez

A list of the best Colombian footballers of all time would not be complete without James Rodriguez. The Golden Boot of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, he earned a transfer to Real Madrid that same year, where he would win two Champions Leagues. After that, he played at Bayern Munich, Everton, Al-Rayyan, Olympiacos and São Paulo, amongst other clubs. James' career never reached the heights it could've, but anyone who watched him play will have seen his quality and class.

1. Carlos Valderrama

Carlos Valderrama, nicknamed 'El Pibe', was one of the cult heroes of the 80s and 90s. The playmaker started his career with Unión Magdalena and then moved to Millonarios and Deportivo Cali. In Europe, he wore the shirt of Montpellier and Real Valladollid, while also representing his country 111 times (11 goals), according to specialised football website Transfermarkt.
