Ronaldinho's unexpected new career move

Brazilian icon Ronaldinho has backtracked on his previous shocking criticism of Brazil that suggested he wouldn't be watching his home country in the Copa America. He said: "I'm not going to watch any matches, I'm missing everything."

According to the Daily Mail, Ronaldinho backtracked and said: "I would never abandon Brazilian football ever." He added, "Fan support makes a huge difference to the player, I know what I'm talking about." Instead of watching it in Brazil, the icon will be watching it in Switzerland.

On Sunday, June 23, the Brazilian star started a brand-new enterprise – a burger restaurant.

The Brazilian star has given his name to a restaurant in the Étang district of Geneva, Switzerland: "Ronaldinho Gaucho, famous for his exploits on the field, is now investing in the field of catering with R10 Burger, a brand specializing in high-quality burgers," the promotional material for the restaurant states.

The site claimed that the 2005 Ballon d'Or recipient had partner status, without giving further details on Ronaldinho's involvement.

The menu includes "smash burgers and tartare burgers, including bao burgers and wagyu beef burgers", there are also customizable "French tacos".

In the spirit of R10, the place must breathe football, so giant screens playing the big games is a must – especially with the Euros in full swing! "R10 Burger wants to be a family restaurant, the meeting place for sports fans and of all the inhabitants of Geneva who love burgers", the brand's director explains on the company website.

On March 6, 2020, the Brazilian legend was imprisoned with his brother in Paraguay for using a false document to enter Paraguayan territory. A mistake that landed him in prison and resulted in a fine of six million reals to the Brazilian justice system – that's almost a million euros (£870k, $1.1m).

The new burger shop is not the first time Ronaldinho has lent his image to a business venture. In 2014 and 2015, he notably featured in the video games Soccer 10 and Ronaldinho Super Dash.

In May 2013, he also founded his own clothing line, called R[ONE]. A brand exclusively sold in the Lourdes district, in Belo Horizonte.
