What a throw-in!

Megan Campbell is no rookie. Now in her thirties, the Irish player is an example of seniority in the world of women's soccer. In recent years, she has stood out for her remarkably long throw-ins.

Tremendous distance and precision

During a match against neighboring England, Megan Campbell registered a 38-meter throw-in.

As if it were a corner kick

The Irish defender was halfway between the midfield and the corner flag, yet she managed to send the ball into the opponent's area, much like a corner kick.

The stadium was shocked

Although the throw-in was rejected by England's defense, everyone in the stadium was shocked. There were more than 32,000 spectators who were at the Aviva Stadium in Dublin.

A great play

This is nothing new for Megan Campbell, as the Irish defender tends to do long balls during throw-ins. She has the best reach in the Women's Premier League.

A 15-year career in soccer

But who is Megan Campbell? Let's take a look at some of her career highlights after playing 15 years in Europe's elite.

Irish and granddaughter of a well-known musician

Born in the small Irish town of Drogheda on June 28, 1993, she is the granddaughter of the renowned Dubliners guitarist, Eamonn Campbell. She would get involved in various local clubs such as the Grove Rangers, the Boyne Rovers, and the Moneymore.

St. Francis Ladies FC in Dublin

Campbell would later move to Dublin for her official debut in 2009 for St. Francis Ladies FC during the Women's Cup of the Irish Federation (FAI).

The European elite

During her first seasons with the Irish team, Campbell would enjoy some time in the UEFA Women's Champions League before heading off to Raheny United in the 2011 transfer window.

Great successes with Raheny United

No to the draft

After a very successful stint in college, many believed she would be part of the 2015 National Women Soccer League College Draft (NWSL), but she chose to finish her last year of studies.

Off to Manchester City

After she finished her degree, she returned to Europe, where she joined Manchester City in the English Premier League. The Irish defender went on to win the treble with her new team and extended her contract for another year.

ACL injury
