Here are the five previous MVP-winning seasons in the NFL!

Lamar Jackson (2023)

ESPN reported that Baltimore's Lamar Jackson won his second MVP after a career-best 3,678 passing yards and 24 touchdowns while having 821 rushing yards and five touchdowns on the ground.

Falling short

Jackson led the Baltimore Ravens to the number one seed in the AFC, but they ultimately lost to eventual Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.

Patrick Mahomes (2022)

Current Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes took home his second regular season MVP award in 2022, leading the Chiefs to a 14-3 record and a Super Bowl victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

5000 and 40

Stat Muse reported that Mahomes led the league in passing yards (5,250) and touchdowns (41). He was named First-Team All-Pro and received an invitation to his fifth Pro Bowl. He got 48 of the 50 first-place votes.

Aaron Rodgers (2021)

Current New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers won his fourth and most recent MVP award in 2021, putting him second only to Peyton Manning's five MVP awards.

Leading the Packers

According to Sky Sports, Rodgers passed for 4,115 yards and 37 touchdowns, leading the Green Bay Packers to a 13-3 record. However, the Packers were eliminated in the Divisional Round by the San Francisco 49ers.

Aaron Rodgers (2020)

In the 2020 NFL season, Rodgers won the first of back-to-back MVP awards after producing one of the greatest statistical seasons in NFL history.

Statistical dream

According to CBS Sports, the former Green Bay QB had a completed passing percentage of 70.7% and passed for 4,299 yards and 48 touchdowns. He received 44 of the 50 first-place votes and broke numerous NFL records.

Lamar Jackson (2019)

Lamar Jackson's first NFL MVP award was historic, becoming only the second player to receive all 50 first-place votes after Tom Brady did it in 2010 with the New England Patriots, as reported by the NFL website.

Rushing record

Jackson became the youngest QB to win the award (22 years, 358 days) and led the Ravens to a record of 14-2 before losing to Tennessee in the Divisional Round. Jackson rushed for 1,206 yards, breaking Michael Vick's single-season record for a quarterback.

Patrick Mahomes (2018)

Patrick Mahomes set the NFL alight in his first full season as a starter with the Kansas City Chiefs, winning the MVP award after throwing 50 touchdowns and 5,097 yards.

Only Chiefs player

The Chiefs quarterback became the first and only Chiefs player to win the MVP award, leading them to a 12-4 record before losing to the Patriots in the AFC Championship game.

One away

Mahomes and Jackson now sit one MVP award away from joining Tom Brady, Jim Brown, Brett Favre, Johnny Unitas, Peyton Manning, and Aaron Rodgers as players with three or more Associated Press MVPs.
