Quarterbacks who could be on the move this offseason
Given the amount of attrition and ineffectiveness at quarterback in 2023, NFL teams will take an aggressive approach to solidify the position ahead of the 2024 season. Franchises might want to bring competition in to start, as well as acquire reserves who could provide capable play in a pinch. We’ll take a look at a few quarterbacks who may have new homes next season.
Given the amount of talent at his disposal, perhaps Browning’s success with the Cincinnati Bengals is not that surprising. With that being said, a quarterback still has to get the ball into the hands of his weapons, and Browning has done that exceedingly well. Look for another team to poach him early in the offseason.
Sam Howell has fared better than many expected with the Washington Commanders, which has left Brissett mostly on the bench in 2023. However, he’s still viewed as one of the better reserves in the NFL, and someone will surely inquire about his services. He has one of the biggest arms in the league, and is skilled at picking up the first down in third or fourth and short situations.

He’s certainly made the rounds in his career, but Mullens has shown signs of dependability whenever he’s played. He has gotten the chance to fill in with the Minnesota Vikings in 2023, and has shown he is a professional passer. Minnesota might decide to keep Mullens around for another year if they decide to part ways with Kirk Cousins.
It’s been something of a revelation for Flacco with the Cleveland Browns. While his mobility isn’t anything to write home about, Flacco’s arm is still delivering crisp throws down the field. Any team that looks at the veteran would have to make protection a priority, but Flacco has proven he can still sling it in his late thirties.
This was supposed to be year one of the Anthony Richardson era for the Indianapolis Colts, but it’s been Minshew who was led the team to playoff contention. It’s been a nice revival for the mercurial quarterback, who was shakier in spot starts with the Philadelphia Eagles last year. He could be an ideal option as a bridge starter somewhere else in 2024.
Las Vegas seemed to jump off of the Garoppolo train pretty quickly in 2023, even before head coach Josh McDaniels was fired. While he didn’t show anything special this season, Garoppolo has still appeared in a bunch of big games in his career. A team may still view that experience as attractive for their quarterback room.
The Carolina Panthers have been surprisingly loyal to Bryce Young this season, despite his massive struggles as a rookie. As a rebuilding franchise, it does make sense to stick with the younger player rather than throw in a veteran. However, Dalton did play well when called upon, and should be at the top of a lot of teams’ lists when it comes to filling out a roster.
Many might not believe that Wilson should be on a list like this, but a team will take a chance on the talent that the former number two overall pick possesses. He’s had a tumultuous tenure with the New York Jets, but someone will try to rehabilitate Wilson’s confidence and to put him in a better situation for success.
