On the trade block

Amari Cooper and Devante Adams were both traded earlier this week, to the Bills and Jets respectively, as both AFC East teams stock up for the playoff race. These trades have created a buzz around the league, with potential trades mooted up and down the league, so let’s take a look at who could be involved in a trade over the next few weeks.

Haason Reddick - Lions

Aidan Hutchinson has been placed on injured reserve after a brutal leg break against the Cowboys, leaving a gaping hole in their pass rush. This could have some legs, with ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reporting that the Lions have already contacted the Jets about a potential trade.

Maxx Crosby - Eagles

We don’t see this as likely given the haul the Eagles would need to give up to get Crosby, but it would solve their pass rush issues. Howie Roseman tends to shop in the bargain bucket during the season, so any move will depend on how good the Eagles think they are.

Cooper Kupp - Chiefs

NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero recently suggested Kupp could be on the move if the Rams don’t turn their season around. There is nothing linking him to the Chiefs currently, but Kupp would have 20 catches a game playing with Mahomes, and that’s only a slight exaggeration.

Darius Slay - Texans

As with the Crosby trade before, this is dependent on how the Eagles view themselves, which is impossible to know until the dust has settled. However, Slay is still a solid cornerback and the Eagles are currently loaded at the position with young talent, possibly making him surplus to requirements. The Texans are suffering from injuries in their secondary, making this a good fit.

Za'Darius Smith - 49ers

The Niners are still in their Super Bowl window, so could be looking to add a veteran pass rusher as the season goes on. Last year they did so with Chase Young, perhaps Za'Darius Smith is the guy this year. Leonard Floyd is the guy lining up across from Nick Bosa currently, Floyd is a solid, if not exceptional player so adding Smith could be an upgrade at best, and depth at worst.

Andre Cisco - Commanders

Andre Cisco did not hold back after his Jaguars team got demolished by the Bears in London, which possibly puts him in line for a trade away from Duval. The Commanders are the surprise package of the season, as they look like a legitimate playoff team just one year into their new era. Cisco is a versatile safety who shouldn’t cost too much to acquire and will add talent to Washington’s secondary.

DeAndre Hopkins - Steelers

As Cody Benjamin points out for CBS Sports, “The Steelers have been sniffing around blockbuster wideouts this year,” noting Brandon Aiyuk and Devante Adams as previous target. With those off the table, the Steelers could turn to a wily veteran who isn’t having a great time in Tennessee. Whether Hopkins would be willing to go from one bad QB situation to another is a different story…

Justin Fields - Dolphins

This is pure speculation with almost no chance of happening, but it is a little fun to imagine Fields surrounded by the Dolphins’ offensive weapons. Reports this week suggest Fields will drop to the bench with Russell Wilson taking the starting spot (weird) which could lead the former Bears QB to want out. The Dolphins are a mess, at least be a fun mess.

Dameon Pierce - Vikings

It's not the most exciting trade rumor to end on, and admittedly we’re cribbing from Cody Benjamin from CBS Sports with this one, but it does make sense. The Vikings have emerged as one of the best teams in football through six weeks and are relying on Aaron Jones, coming off a hip injury, to be a bell cow. Why not take some pressure off by acquiring Pierce?
