Let’s call it guesstimating

An NFL mock draft in May isn’t the most useful exercise of all time given the variables that come with college football and the draft process, but it’s fun and can be a useful tool to track some of the big names in college football.

17: Chicago Bears - Mason Graham

The Bears look set on offense having drafted Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze last month. If Williams works out, that side of the ball will take care of itself. Defensively, they will need to keep upgrading, and Michigan’s Mason Graham could be the perfect addition.

18: Cleveland Browns - Cameron Ward

Josh Edwards of CBS Sports describes Ward as, “one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the country.” The Browns could be ready to move on from Deshaun Watson next season if he doesn’t turn things around, and Ward could be an intriguing prospect by draft time.

19: Los Angeles Rams - Conner Weigman

This is dependent on Matthew Stafford, but there is a good chance 2024 is his last in the NFL. The Rams could see Weigman as a player in Stafford’s image, given his 10.1 Average Depth of Target per PFF. He’s got good size and is willing to take risks, Sean McVay could be licking his lips.

20: New York Jets - Drew Allar

Drew Allar has a long way to go before he is seen as an NFL QB prospect. The Jets also may not be in the market for one, however, we could see Rodgers moving on after this year, opening the door for a rookie. Three QBs going at this point is unlikely, of course, but we are trying to look at who needs what a year from now.

21: Atlanta Falcons - Patrick Payton

The Falcons decided to pass on an EDGE in 2024 to take their long-term backup QB..? In 2025, having still not been able to pressure opposing quarterbacks, they select Payton from Florida State, who Jordan Reid of ESPN describes as a “toolsy edge rusher [who] is still trying to put it all together,” there’s no better time than the present!

22: Miami Dolphins - Emeka Egbuka

There is more than half a chance that Tyreek Hill won’t be back in Miami next year, meaning a replacement wideout will be required. Egbuka isn’t the burner that Miami has coveted in recent years, but he catches everything and is more than good enough to fit nicely in Mike McDaniel’s offense.

23: Green Bay Packers - Nic Scourton

Green Bay is another team mostly set on offense but could use some help defensively. The “powerful pass rusher”, per Josh Edwards of CBS Sports, from Texas A&M is a similar build to Preston Smith, giving the Packers two huge pass rushers.

24: Houston Texans - Evan Stewart

Stefon Diggs is only signed for one year in Houston, so they could be looking for his replacement come the offseason. Josh Edwards describes Stewart as, “incredibly gifted and has the potential to be the first wide receiver off the board.”

25: Dallas Cowboys - Malaki Starks

Depending on how things go in 2024, the Cowboys could be drafting another offensive lineman here, but if Starks slips to the mid-20s, he could be a steal.

26: Philadelphia Eagles - Emery Jones Jr.

Despite so many rumors suggesting the Eagles were going to select an offensive tackle in 2024, they chose not to address the position for now. That makes it a position of need next year and at 26, there may be no better option than Jones.

27: Detroit Lions - Walter Nolen

The Lions look well-positioned to make a run at the Super Bowl in 2024, the only thing holding them back is consistent pressure on the QB. Walter Nolen had four sacks from the interior last year showcasing his disruptive interior presence.

28: Cincinnati Bengals - Isaiah Bond

Tee Higgins is presumably gone after this year, making wide receiver a big priority in Cincinnati. A year in Texas’ high-flying offense and Bond could be seen as a first-round prospect.

29: Buffalo Bills - Tyler Booker

There’s an argument for a wide receiver here, but we could see the Bills investing heavily at that position in free agency, making the offensive line the biggest position of need. Jordan Reid described Booker as, “a wide-bodied blocker who has strong hands to help him sustain blocks and generate movement on the first level,” you can do a lot worse than that.

30: Baltimore Ravens - Dani Dennis-Sutton

The Ravens could be tempted to add more receiving talent to their offense, but the 6’5”, 258 lbs Dennis-Sutton has all the tools to develop into a phenomenal pass-rusher, we need to see the tools become production, however.

31: Kansas City Chiefs - Landon Jackson

Jackson is a monster defensive lineman, standing 6’7”, 281 lbs. He is also able to play inside and outside, giving the Chiefs more versatility along the line.

32: San Francisco 49ers - Colston Loveland

The Niners continue to invest in their offense, adding the early number-one tight end in Loveland. His 14.4 YPC, per PFF, shows he is a dynamic, downfield threat, who could ease the burden on whoever is left over in the Deebo Samuel/Brandon Aiyuk trade negotiations.
