Why are they linked?

Since McIlroy's divorce, Balionis has taken her husband's surname out of her social media username, and she's been seen without her wedding ring at previous golf events.

'Puppies and Golf'

The Daily Mail reports that the CBS reporter has a non-profit organization called 'Puppies and Golf', which McIlroy has recently featured on the charity's Instagram page.

The speculation

According to the New York Post, the speculation seems to have arisen after Balionis' interview with McIlroy after he secured the Wells Fargo Championship on May 12th.

Timing

McIlroy announced his divorce from Stoll straight after his interview with Balionis at the Wells Fargo Championship, creating a frenzy of people thinking the two were potentially dating.

Not dating

US Weekly has since confirmed the two are not dating and that their relationship is strictly professional amid the speculation.

Still playing

Despite the ongoing speculation around his private life, Rory McIlroy has still played on the PGA Tour and at the PGA Championship, finishing T32 and T12.

Canadian Open

McIlroy will compete at the Canadian Open, which finishes on Sunday, the 2nd of June. The Northern Irishman won the Canadian Open in 2019.
