Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is unrecognizable in new role as wrestling legend Mark Kerr

Former WWE (WWF) wrestled Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is set to portray Mark Kerr in Benny Safdie's latest film. Johnson is set to play Kerr, a former MMA fighter, in an upcoming A24 film, with the production company recently releasing a photo from the set that shows Johnson looking completely transformed!

The actor is the protagonist of 'The Smashing Machine', a film that will review the life of one of the most legendary MMA fighters in the history of the sport.

Joining Dwayne Johnson will be Emily Blunt, who will take on the role of Dawn Staples, Mark Kerr's wife.

The film is an adaptation of the documentary 'The Smashing Machine: The Life and Times of Extreme Fighter Mark Kerr' and according to A24, it will do a deep dive into the life of the former MMA legend.

"Fights against addiction, snatching victories, love and friendship in the year 2000", of an athlete who forged his legacy in the MMA, but he might not be that known to the general public.

On the other hand, the major role will mark a big moment in Dwayne Johnson's acting career, following the steps of Will Smith as he did in 'Ali' (2001).

"I'm at a point in my career where I want to make films that matter, that explore humanity and struggle and pain," the actor told 'Variety'.

'The Rock' will be under directions from Benny Safdie, who will debut as a solo director, but whose short portfolio includes great movies like 'Uncut Gems' (2019).
