Football is big business, and the biggest market is arguably Britain’s Premier League. The competition is known for setting the market prices of footballers in Europe and hosts some of the most valuable squads in sports history.

How it's looking in 2024/25

Let’s look at the value of each team going into the 2024/25 season based on their current squad as of 8/8/2024. All figures are sourced from Transfermarkt, the leading European football database.

20. Ipswich Town €91.45m (£78.7m, $99.7m)

Returning after a 22-year absence, newcomers Ipswich Town take bottom place in the league with a squad valued at €91.45m (£78.7m, $99.7m) – chicken feed compared to the numbers we’ll get to.

Southampton round out the promoted sides, also returning after one year out of the Prem. They re-enter with a squad valued at €230.80m (£197.7m, $250.6m).

17. Fulham FC: €282.50m (£242m, $307m)

West London side Fulham FC come into 2024/205 with a squad reportedly worth €282.50m (£242m, $307m).

16. Everton: €323.80m (£278.4m, $352.7m)

Not making any huge transfer moves so far, Everton go into the new season valued at €323.80m (£278.4m, $352.7m).

15. Nottingham Forest: €366.20m (£314.6m, $399m)

The Midlands club enter the new season with a value of €366.20m (£314.6m, $399m), though have picked up a few interesting signings such as Elliot Anderson from Newcastle United, who they picked up for €41m (£35m, $44.4m).

14. AFC Bournemouth: €383.10m (£329m, $417.6m)

On the rise since US billionaire Bill Foley bought them in 2022, Bournemouth come in at 14 with value of €383.10m (£329m, $417.6m).

13. Wolverhampton Wanderers: €419.60m (£360.4m, $457.2m)

Though Wolves are reportedly circling a number of interesting signings, such as Hugo Bueno, at this stage the club will come in valued at €419.60m (£360.4m, $457.2m).

12. Brentford FC: €419.7m (£360.5m, $457.3m)

Though seemingly desperate to offload star striker Ivan Toney, there has been little action at Brentford over the off-season and come into 2024 valued at €419.7m (£360.5m, $457.3m).

11. Crystal Palace: €437.00m (£375.2m,  $476m)

Another club reportedly moments away from a shake-up with a rumoured arrival of Wilfried Zaha from Galatasaray, they are currently valued at €437.00m (£375.2m,  $476m).

10. West Ham United: €509.50m  (£437m, $554.6m)

East London’s West Ham United have taken an interesting signings strategy and have favoured more experienced players, including most recently Argentina star Guido Rodriguez (30) who signed on a free transfer. They are currently valued at  €509.50m  (£437m, $554.6m).

9. Brighton and Hove Albion: €578.20m (£496.2 $629.7m)

Ever promising, the Seagulls have been clearing their house out a little bit over the summer with some of their wider squad, but have yet to make any big plays on the market. They are valued at €578.20m (£496.2 $629.7m) – more or less the same as last year.

8. Aston Villa: €650.50m (£558.3m, $708.5m)

Though boasting Ollie Watkins, whose value has almost doubled year on year, Aston Villa is currently valued at €650.50m (£558.3m, $708.5m).

7. Newcastle United: €659.65m (£566.1m, $718.1m)

The Magpies have set their sights on some more development prospects over the summer, though did manage to snag the hotly touted William Osula. Their value of €659.65m (£566.1m, $718.1m) is comparable to what it was in 2023.

6. Tottenham Hotspur: €784.70m (£673.4m, $854.1m)

Currently hosting a little a couple of big names players not quite living up to their potential, i.e Richarlison, the London giant is maybe a little undervalued at €784.70m (£673.4m, $854.1m).

5. Manchester United: €818.15m (£702m, $890.5m)

The Red Devils have undergone a torrid summer. The European giant have been undergoing a massive sweep out, almost including coach Erik ten Hag, and have offered up a minuscule transfer budget. Still, they come into 2024 valued at €818.15m (£702m, $890.5m).

4. Liverpool FC: €949.30m (£814m, 1.03bn)

Liverpool are in something of a transitional phase, it seems, as new coach Arne Slot gets to grip with the giant. So far, the club has yet to sign anybody this summer, though they have had their sights set on some big names, such as Frankfurt's Willian Pacho. They are currently valued at €949.30m (£814m, 1.03bn).

3. Chelsea: €1.09bn (£934m, $1.18bn)

At the pointy end now, big spenders Chelsea have kept up their signing stamina this year and so far signed eight strong players, most recently Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino for €19.8m (£17m, $21.6m), according to the Independent. They come in valued at a whopping €1.09bn (£934m, $1.18bm).

2. Arsenal: €1.17bn (£1bn, $1.27bn)

Though they have brought in Riccardo Calafiori as their marquee signing over the summer, it seems Arsenal are getting desperate to sign a number of big names, including Mikel Merino, before the end of the summer. We expect they might go up a touch in value, but will remain in second place at €1.17bn (£1bn, $1.27bn).

1. Manchester City: €1.41bn (£1.2bn, $1.53bn)

Who else would it have been? A squad so valuable they’re perpetually in trouble due to ‘financial irregularities’, have taken out the top spot once again. City have actually freed up a lot of space in their squad outgoings over the summer, but with the likes of Erling Haaland on your books valued at €186.6m (£159.4m, $202m alone) it’s no wonder the squad comes in at €1.41bn (£1.2bn, $1.53bn).
