Who are the oldest active NBA players for the 2024/25 season?
The NBA has become a young man's game, with more spacing, more fast breaks, and the younger players becoming the alphas of the league in their early 20s. However, some older players can still mix it with the young guns. Here are the oldest active players! All ages are as of November 1st.
Jeff Green has been in the league since 2007, becoming a reliable role player who can knock down shots and finish some highlight-reel dunks. The Houston Rockets forward played 17 minutes a game last season for the Rockets, averaging 6.5 points.
Green has played for 11 teams in his long NBA career and finally became an NBA champion with the Denver Nuggets in 2023, playing 20 minutes a game and averaging eight points. The Rockets forward is yet to play a minute this season, but his veteran experience will be needed.

Boston Celtics forward Al Horford has been a critical veteran leader in helping the Boston Celtics win their first NBA title in 16 years last season. It was also Horford's first taste of glory since being drafted third in the 2007 NBA Draft.
At 38, Horford still can get up and down the floor and knock down essential shots from the corner. He's also mentored Celtics superstars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. He is still averaging 25 minutes per game this season and knocking down nine points.
Garrett Temple's career, which started undrafted in 2009, has taken him everywhere, from the D-League and G-League to the NBA. Now, the 38-year-old is playing in a veteran role for the Toronto Raptors.
ESPN reports that Temple's production hasn't been the most prolific in recent years, averaging two and 3.3 points per game in the last two seasons. However, for a guy at the end of the bench, his experience only benefits this young Raptors team.
Since being drafted in the 2006 NBA Draft, Kyle Lowry has been one of the elite point guards in the NBA, becoming a six-time All-Star and the leading point guard in the Toronto Raptors' shock NBA Championship win in 2019.
Lowry now plays for the Philadelphia 76ers as their second-string point guard and the leader of the second unit. So far this season, he has averaged 22.5 minutes and nine points per game. However, his main job is to mentor young superstar Tyrese Maxey.
Taj Gibson was a vital cog during the Derrick Rose days at the Chicago Bulls, playing consistently for over 27 minutes per game and averaging over ten points in three of those seasons in the Windy City.

Now, Gibson is playing in a veteran role for the Charlotte Hornets, primarily focusing on helping the young core like LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, and Tre Mann flourish. He has yet to play a minute this season, but he's been brought in to focus on his work away from the court.
'Point God' Chris Paul is an NBA icon and one of the greatest playmakers the game has ever seen. Paul is a five-time NBA assists leader, six-time steals leader, 12-time All-Star, and 11-time All-NBA player. This season, he's playing for the San Antonio Spurs.
The closest 'CP3' has come to winning an NBA Championship was when he reached the NBA Finals in 2021 with the Phoenix Suns. Unfortunately, playing for the Spurs makes his chances extremely unlikely. Despite that, Paul will get the opportunity to finish his career playing with generational talent Victor Wembanyama.
PJ Tucker has epitomized what it means to play your role in the NBA, and that's why he's still playing at the elite level at 39. The 6ft7 forward has taken teams to the next level with his savvy defense, ability to pick up the best player, and three-point shooting.
Tucker was a mainstay in the Milwaukee Bucks team that won the 2021 NBA Finals after joining in the second half of the season. This season, Tucker is playing for the LA Clippers, and his veteran leadership will be needed if James Harden and co. challenge for the chip.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James continues to defy what can be done athletically in any sport, never mind basketball. The first pick in the 2003 draft is still one of the best players in the league, and he is still on the hunt for an elusive fifth NBA Championship.
James has defied all expectations during his NBA career, becoming a 20-time NBA All-Star, four-time MVP, and four-time Finals MVP. 'The King' doesn't seem to slow down, averaging 21 points and seven rebounds in 33 minutes this season. Against Sacramento on October 26th, he became the first player in NBA history to record 15 points, five assists, and five rebounds in one quarter on a perfect 6-6 shooting.
