At 16, the Daily Mail reported that Huitema scored her first senior goal for the national team in a 6-0 thrashing of Costa Rica in a friendly on June 11, 2017.
Her rapid rise through the Canadian system made her one of the biggest talents in world soccer, joining French giants PSG in 2019 and representing Canada at numerous global tournaments.
Huitema made 45 appearances for PSG and scored six goals, helping them to the Division 1 Féminine in 2021 and Coupe de France Féminin in 2022.
The Daily Mail reported that Huitema has played in the World Cup and Olympics for Canada, failing to score at the 2019 and 2023 World Cups. She did win an Olympic gold in 2021, playing 36 minutes in the championship game.
Since leaving PSG in 2022, Huitema has joined the Seattle Reign of the National Women's Soccer League. The Athletic reported that Huitema left PSG to gain experience and game time.
