Here are the five youngest drivers to start in a Grand Prix in Formula One!

Jaime Alguersuari (19 years, 125 days)

At 19 years and 125 days, Jaime Alguersuari became the youngest driver in Formula One when he replaced Sebastien Bourdais at Toro Rosso for the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix.

Leaving to pursue music

According to Auto Week, the former Toro Rosso driver held his seat there until 2011, with a best-place finish of seventh in 46 career Formula One starts. He retired from racing to pursue a career in music in 2015.

Lando Norris (19 years, 124 days)

McLaren driver Lando Norris is now the second-youngest British driver in Formula One history, and made his debut at the Australian Grand Prix in 2019, qualifying eighth and finishing 12th on race day.

Proving his worth

After a turbulent few years in the McLaren, the back end of the 2023 season helped Norris shine through his true potential, having seven podiums and finishing runner-up in six of the final 13 races, according to Beyond the Flag.

Ollie Bearman (18 years, 10 months)

Ferrari backup driver Ollie Bearman became the third-youngest driver in Formula One history at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and finished seventh, beating out Lewis Hamilton and scoring six points.

His pedigree

As reported by the F1 Briefings website, Bearman has championship victories in both the Italian and ADAC Formula Four series. He had a stint with the Formula Two team Prema Racing and has been a reserve driver for Ferrari and Haas.

Lance Stroll (18 years, 4 months)

Current Aston Martin team driver Lance Stroll has been projected into the Formula One racing scene, with his dad Lawrence Stroll owning the Aston Martin team.

Debut to forget

Stroll made his Formula One debut at the 2017 Australian Grand Prix for Williams and crashed in practice, receiving a grid penalty. He retired from the race with a brake failure. He has since achieved three podium finishes in Formula One.

Max Verstappen (17 years, 5 months)

The youngest driver to make their Formula One race debut is Red Bull superstar Max Verstappen, who made his debut at the 2015 Australian Grand Prix. He was on course to score points, but his engine blew up on lap 34, according to Planet F1.

Total domination

Over the last three years, Verstappen has dominated the Formula One circuit, winning three world championships and setting records in the 2023 season by winning 19 of the 22 races. This season, the Dutchman has the opening two Grand Prix's.
