Unusual babysitting job

Pet owners might be familiar with the struggle to find adequate sitters for their beloved cats and dogs, but spare a thought for Ryan Kent who is currently on the hunt for somebody to babysit his pet crocodile.

Busy schedule

That’s right, the former Liverpool and Rangers winger is looking for somebody to care for his pet crocodile while he is away on team duties at his new club, the Istanbul-based Fenerbahce.

Raising eyebrows

Kent caused quite a stir in Turkey this week when media outlet Aykiri reported that the new star was searching for a babysitter for his exotic pet this week.

Hard to find the right person

As most people tend to keep animals that aren’t likely to attack and kill them, crocodiles aren’t common pets so finding a sitter might prove difficult.

Good wage

Kent has upped his chances of finding a suitable candidate though by offering a fairly lucrative wage for the crocodile’s new caregiver.

$3,000...plus insurance!

The job is said to come with a $3,000 US monthly salary, according to Yenicag, another Turkish media outlet. The job also comes with health insurance, which might come in handy...

A special interest

According to The Sun, Kent is "known to have a special interest in wild animals", and had a reputation among Rangers fans for his love of unusual and exotic animals.

He used to own two!

In fact, former teammate and Rangers skipper James Tavernier  (pictured) claimed that Kent once owned not one, but TWO crocodiles during his time in Glasgow… perhaps one of the most unnatural environments for a crocodile we could ever imagine, but there you go.

Bought a teammate a snake as a Secret Santa gift

It’s apparently not just crocs he’s interested in either, as he also bought former Rangers teammate Nikola Katic a snake for Christmas back in 2018 – apparently as a ‘Secret Santa’ gift, according to The Sun. It's the thought that counts...

Side business

Add to that, just days ago the 26-year-old also splashed out £145,000 ($185,000) for a racehorse named Son of Mehmas. He is reportedly hoping it will become a Royal Ascot competitor in the coming years, The Sun reported. He already owns a stake in several other horses, it was also reported.

Off to good start

Outside of his pet care headaches, Kent’s time at Fenerbahce has been somewhat successful so far – he has made four appearances so far this season and scored on his debut in the Europa Conference League qualifying round.
