Increasing confidence

British tennis star Katie Boulter has spoken on her increasing confidence and the driving force behind her ever-growing success in professional tennis.

"Come out of my shell"

According to The Independent, Boulter said: "The more I play on bigger stages, the more I come out of my shell. I can be quite shy sometimes, but tennis gives me that outlet to really express how I feel and to show how tough I can be in big moments."

Family

The tennis star explained that her family was the driving force behind her success and the biggest source of inspiration.

"My biggest inspiration"

"My family are my biggest inspiration in life and in tennis. They have given everything to me throughout their lives. When they're proud of me, I know that I'm motivated and doing the best that I possibly can."

Sensation, on and off the court

Boulter is a sensation, on and off the court. The British tennis player is turning heads with her performances as an athlete – but also with her life away from the court. Read on to discover Boulter's story.

Early beginnings

Boulter was born in Leicester on 1 August 1996 and began her tennis adventure at the age of five. Tennis runs in her family, as both her mother and grandmother used to play at county level.

Lemon Bowl and Junior Orange Bowl

At the age of 11, she was already enjoying a taste of success, winning the Lemon Bowl in Rome. Three years later, she was runner-up in the prestigious Junior Orange Bowl in Florida.

Doubles success

In 2013, she won the first senior doubles title of her career in Sharm El-Sheikh, and in 2014 she reached the Australian Open girls' doubles final.

First singles title

This was the prelude to her first senior singles title, which she won in that same Sharm El-Sheikh.

Grand Slam debut

For her Grand Slam debut, she had to wait until 2017, when she was eliminated in the first round in Wimbledon.

Good 2018

2018 was a good year for Boulter, who improved at Wimbledon to reach the second round. She also won several tournaments and advanced to her first WTA Tour quarter-final at the Nottingham Open.

Top 100

These results allowed her to finish the year ranked world No. 100.

Australian Open

The following year, Boulter made her debut at the Australian Open, where she reached the second round after a three-set win over Ekaterina Makarova.

2021: US Open debut

In 2021, she took her career a step further and made her debut at the US Open. By that time, she had played in every Grand Slam except the French Open.

Beating top 10 player

She then set another milestone, defeating Karolina Plíšková at Eastbourne in the first win of her career against a top 10 player.

2022: Wimbledon third round

At Wimbledon, she went further in 2022, reaching the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.

British No. 1

In June 2023, after some good results, she became the highest-ranked British player on the circuit.

First WTA singles title

She would confirm that status at the 2023 Nottingham Open, where she defeated compatriot Jodie Burrage to claim her first WTA singles title.

Top 50

She then repeated her best-ever Grand Slam result (third round) at Wimbledon and the US Open. Later that year, she would enter the top 50 for the first time in her career.

Life off the court

Boulter is working her way up the rankings, but also enjoys life off the court.

Passion for fashion
