NFL Mock Draft 11.0 picks 1-16: Surely not?

The NFL draft is impossible to predict, so we like to use a mixture of our evaluations and predictions, plus rumors and projections from others in the NFL media landscape. Let’s take a look at how this mock could go.

Peter Schrager and others have reported the Bears and Williams have met multiple times during the pre-draft process and are already planning their future together.

This is who we would pick if we were the Commanders. Maye has his flaws, but so does Jayden Daniels, and we aren’t sure Daniels’ are so easy to overcome in the NFL.

With Maye off the board, the Patriots trade out of the number three slot, picking up the Giants’ first-rounders in 24, 25, and 26. The Giants swing big for the electric Daniels, which should be fun to watch.

The Cardinals could trade out of this spot, but when there’s a talent like Harrison on the board, you don’t risk it. Matt Miller of ESPN notes his, “pro readiness and high-end positional traits,” as reasons to be existed about the former Buckeye.

We are unconvinced that McCarthy will be a good player in the NFL, his sample size isn’t big and what we did see isn’t special. The Vikings disagree, trading up with the Chargers to take him.

In this mock, the Pats decide to rebuild through the offensive line, taking the consensus number one tackle.

Will Brinson notes for CBS Sports, “The Titans so, so, SO clearly need OL help.” Well, they’re getting some in Latham, who offers positional versatility and the potential to be a star.

This may be the most commonly mocked pick in the draft, behind Williams to the Bears. Turner looks like the real deal on the edge and should bring some polish to a defense lacking any.

Matt Miller describes Nabers as an “elite playmaker” which sounds like a perfect fit in an offense already featuring D.J. Moore and Keenan Allen. Offense is all-important in the NFL, and the Bears double down on it early.

The Jets signed a couple of offensive linemen in free agency that should bolster them this season. Fautanu can help in the long run given his experience at tackle and his ability to slide inside to guard.

We were tempted to send the Chargers Rome Odunze, but if the offensive line can’t protect Justin Herbert, there’s no point. Fuaga is a mauler who probably projects as a guard in the NFL.

The Broncos select Mitchell, described by an NFC scout as, “the best cornerback in the class,” per Matt Miller, and pair him with Pat Surtain to create a nightmare secondary for opposing offenses.

Peter Schrager’s latest mock also has Fashanu going to the Raiders, where he claimed, “Fashanu might have the highest upside of all these tackle prospects.” We disagree, but he is talented.

Arnold is our favorite CB in the draft, so the Saints should be running in their draft card for this selection.

So many mocks have the Colts take Brock Bowers, which does make sense, but why not select the more valuable position? Thomas is tall and explosive, and we want to see him running under an Anthony Richardson deep ball.

Murphy projects as comfortably the best defensive tackle in the draft, finishing 2023 with five sacks and 33 pressures, per ESPN. He isn’t overly big, but he’s strong, and his quick get-off will make him a nightmare to defend.
