According to the Belgian darts player, he was attacked by a group of youths.
"We had to go through a park and there some Moroccan youths were provoking the Antwerp supporters because Antwerp had lost. The queue to join the coaches had slowed because of this and me and a friend decided to just walk past the youths," Huybrechts said.
Huybrechts was then pushed from behind and hit with a crash helmet, according to his own words.
"When I tried to go after the assailant I was tripped up and I fell. Then I was kicked again," he added.
The diagnosis was tough for Huybrechts: "Once we got back, I went straight to A&E. There I was told that my right collarbone is broken in two places."
This is bad news for Huybrechts, whose right arm is his throwing arm. He will now have to undergo surgery, per Belgian sports outlet Sporza. However, Huybrechts hopes to be back soon.
"Fortunately, they did tell me that fractures to the collarbone are among the fractures that heal fastest. I will be out of action for between 4 and 6 weeks. I’m hoping it will only be 4 weeks, because there is a tournament scheduled for then."
Huybrechts is one of Belgium's best professional darts players, but will have to hope for a full recovery to get back to his best level.
