A true revelation

The German national team secured their pass as group leaders, after a late header from Niclas Füllkrug. The German striker has proven to be a revelation for Julian Nagelsmann, leading the tournament as the top scorer. Is he the best striker in the Euros?

Leading the German attack

There was plenty of doubt ahead of the Euro 2024 regarding Germany's ability to play a world-class striker. The German team witnessed some incredible strikers like Gerd Müller, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, Jürgen Klinsmann, and Miroslav Klose, to name a few. But now it seems Niclas Füllkrug is leading the German attack!

Wonder sub

The 31-year-old has shown his value to Nagelsmann time and time again as a wonder sub. So far he has played 73 minutes, scoring two goals in three matches. He has a 0.67 avg. per match, and currently leads the tournament as the top scorer, according to Transfermarkt.

He saved the game

The Borussia Dortmund striker is an old-school '9' who knows how to position himself at the right place and the right time.  During a post-match conference, Nagelsmann praised his goal against the Swiss, highlighting "it was a great goal. It wasn't easy."

Goal record

The Hannover local has only started in 6 of his 19 Germany appearances, but still has an excellent goal record of 13 goals total, according to Transfermarkt.

Goal average

He holds a 0.68 goals-per-game average, placing him in the top 5 best German strikers since 1950, according to the Bundesliga website.

Some competition

There's no doubt that Füllkrug will appear in the next German fixture (round of 16). Some fans are even asking if he starts ahead of Kai Havertz.

Hannover 96

The German striker was born on the 9th of February 1993, in Hannover, Germany. He showed great talent as a young footballer, and his family encouraged him onwards. He joined Hannover 96 where he honed his skills as a young talent, later making his professional debut in 2012.

His role with the team

Now, at 31, some would say he is in the final stages of his career, but he has proven his great ability on the pitch. He understands his role better than anyone else.

Keep momentum up

Nagelsmann was asked by local reporters whether Füllkrug could keep up his moment throughout the tournament, to which the coach responded, "It's a great moment for us as a team. Normally there won't be any easy opponent, but if you want to become European champions, you have to beat the really good ones."
