Is this the worst Manchester United team in history?
Manchester United have hit another all-time low following their loss to Brighton, making it the 10th loss of their first 22 games of the season. Ruben Amorim has now managed 11 points out of 33 since his arrival in November. It hasn't been this bad since 1989...
The Red Devils are battling to step out of the bottom half of the Premier League table, and Amorim's horrible start is making it particularly complicated for them to bounce back.
The club stands in 13th position, ever heading closer to a possible relegation. "We are being the worst team maybe in the history of Manchester United," shared the Portuguese manager during a press conference.

Amorim was brought to Manchester United to restore hope to a club that has been failing dramatically since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013, but he believes things may get worse.
"Imagine what this is for a fan of Manchester United. Imagine what this is for me. So we are getting a new coach that is losing more than the last coach," commented Amorim during a press conference.
Speaking after their loss to Newcastle back in December, when asked if Manchester United were fighting to avoid a drop to the Championship, the Portuguese coach said, "I think that it is a possibility. We have to be clear with our fans."
It may seem impossible to consider United as a relegation candidate, but their form is leading down a slippery slope. Manchester United fans have not seen their club relegated from the topflight since 1974, according to the BBC.
Since his first game on November 24th, only Southampton have lost more games in all competitions than Manchester United. They also conceded 18 goals in December, their most in a month since March 1964 (also 18).
United lost three home games consecutively for the first time since 1979, and their poor form means 14th place was their worst position at the turn of the year since 1989, when they were 15th.
Since the Premier League switched to 38 games in 1995, the team that has finished in 17th place on average has earned 38 points, a point every game.
At the halfway point of the season, United had scored 22 points in 19 games, earning an average of 1.15 points per game. If they continue like that, they will finish with 44 points.

However, due to the terrible performances and results under new manager Amorim, the former Sporting coach has averaged 0.9 points per game, per Transfermarkt. If they were to continue in that form, United would record 39 points.
You would think that 39 points would be enough to survive in the Premier League, but in the 2002-03 season, West Ham were relegated with 42 points, making it a real possibility.
According to LiveScore, Manchester United have struggled terribly in front of goal. They have scored the fifth least number of goals (27), and their top scorer is Amad Diallo.
Goals will keep Manchester United above the relegation zone, and with the likelihood that Marcus Rashford leaves in January, scoring more goals could be a continued burden for the club towards the end of the season.
According to Opta, in the latest 10,000 simulations conducted by the supercomputer, Manchester United are relegated just 0.15% of the time. That's 15 instances out of a possible 10,000.
The likelihood that Manchester United will get relegated is exceptionally slim, but if Amorim doesn't get things working soon, the drop zone may be closer than expected for Man Utd fans.
