Surfing isn’t just a sport; it’s a way of life, an expression of culture, and a pure showcase of athleticism. Among those who’ve carved out a lasting impact in the surfing world is Molly Picklum, a standout talent and one of Australia’s top female surfers.

What a champion!

Molly Picklum has garnered much recognition over the last few years, and for good reason. Picklum conquered the Australian Championship titles back-to-back.

Australian Pro Junior

Picklum crowned herself Australian Pro Junior in 2019 and was awarded the Female Rising Star at the Australian Surfing Awards in 2020.

What a show!

Most recently, Picklum put up a fight at the World Surf League Champions Tour, pulling off a big win at the Vans Pipe Masters and the 2023 Hurley Pro Sunset Beach (Hawaii). She left her mark on the North Shore!

Gosford, Australia

Born in Gosford, Australia, on November 26th, 2002, Picklum grew up near the ocean. Her first waves were near Terrigal, a great point break just north of Sydney. During her early surfing days, she displayed great talent becoming one of Australia's most promising female surfers.

 

Committed

After finishing her year 12 studies (senior year of high school), the Australian surfer committed herself fully to surfing. Picklum made her professional debut in 2017 in the Women's Junior competition.

SAHOF Scholarship

Picklum was granted a SAHOF (Sport Australia Hall of Fame) Scholarship, which was a massive step in her professional career. SAHOF Scholarships aim to provide programs to assist young elite Australian athletes reach the highest level of their chosen sport, by providing financial support and one-to-one mentoring.

Valuable mentoring

"I was so excited to hear that my SAHOF Scholarship Application was successful. Being able to receive one-on-one mentoring from a sporting mentor, especially someone like Debbie Watson (Australian water polo champion) will be so valuable for me at this stage of my career," shared Molly Picklum on social media after being selected as a 2021 Tier 1 Scholarship holder.

Top 5

After her 2019 Junior Series win, Picklum has always finished in the top 5 of each series. She is a competitive powerhouse facing some of the industry's biggest names, like Stephanie Gilmore. The Australian surfer was ranked 5th in the 2023/24 Women's CT.

Always surfing

When she is not in the water winning heats you can find Molly in the line-up at her local beach breaks on the Central Coast of New South Wales. Picklum is constantly on the grind, perfecting her technique.

2024 Teahupo'o

Picklum put on a solid performance during the 2024 Olympics in Tahiti. She fell eliminated to Johanne Defay (FRA) during the Round 2 - Heat 4 elimination rounds. However, her Olympic dream is very much alive for the 2028 Olympics.
