Recommended Fantasy Football Week 6 Waiver Wire Pickups
There were a lot of enormous fantasy weeks in the most recent slate of games. Hopefully some of those performances came for your team, but it’s also possible that you faced a team with Ja’Marr Chase and D.J. Moore that throttled you in Week 5. Here are a few savvy moves to consider to right the ship in Week 6.
It’s entirely possible that the majority of NFL fans have never heard of Demercado until now. He’s leaped into relevancy now though as the primary backup to James Conner in Arizona, who went down with an injury on Sunday. In relief of Conner, Demercado posted 45 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries.
From a fantasy perspective, things weren’t looking great for Schultz as a primary target of C.J. Stroud in September. However, his production has ramped up the last two weeks. Stroud looked Schultz’s way a season-high 10 times against the Atlanta Falcons. This led to a seven catch, 65 yard performance, including the game-winning touchdown.
We’ve seen this movie before with Foreman. He never starts on whichever team he’s on, but comes on in relief to prove that he’s a capable runner between the tackles. Foreman put his talent on display last year with the Carolina Panthers, and has done so before in relief of Derrick Henry when he was on the Tennessee Titans. He’ll have another shot to step in and star in Week 6.
Indianapolis was a difficult situation to forecast from a passing game perspective heading into the year, but it looks like Downs has earned enough looks through the air to make himself fantasy relevant. His stock is on the rise considering that backup quarterback Gardner Minshew figures to play for the next few weeks, and is more consistent of a passer than rookie Anthony Richardson.
Osborn’s prospects boil down to the health of Justin Jefferson. This might be a difficult call for fantasy managers to make in the middle of the week if Jefferson’s status is murky. However, Osborn might be worth a regular non-waiver pickup if he’s still available, or a low budget auction bid if your league uses FAAB.
Despite the narrative that Wilson has lost a step or two, he’s actually been a pretty decent quarterback option for fantasy purposes this season. Perhaps it was out of necessity, but Wilson also recorded some production on the ground against the New York Jets in Week 5. If he continues to be a respectable dual threat, that puts him on the fantasy radar.
There’s a chance that Kmet might be sitting on your list of available players, and it would behoove anyone with a need at tight end to pick him up with confidence. The Bears don’t have a defined second wide receiver behind D.J. Moore, meaning that Justin Fields should continue to look Kmet’s way early and often.
Tight end needy teams might also look Thomas’ way. If the Kansas City Chiefs decide to rest Travis Kelce, or a fantasy team with Pat Freiermuth as its starter needs a fill-in, Thomas could fit in capably. He had a nice game against the Chicago Bears last Thursday, and figures to benefit from the negative game script Washington often finds themselves in.
