The United States women's basketball team has one goal in sight, and that is their eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal. Their team is arguably one of the clear favorites to dominate Parisian courts, making it the real 'Dream Team' for the 2024 Olympic Games. Let's take a look at some of the stars.

The very best

The USA Basketball team began a selective process, working closely with 14 world-class ballers, who today make up some of the most talented players in the WNBA.

Olympic veterans

Nine of them already have plenty of Olympic experience and are entering the 2024 Paris Olympics with great experience behind their backs.

Can't get better than this...

But who are these 14 players with whom the United States wants to continue its global hegemony? Let's get to know them...

Shakira Austin

Considered by many as one of the best in the world today, the very young center of the Washington Mystics developed her skills in Maryland and Ole Miss, at the University of Mississippi. She later went on to play for Elitzur Ramla in Israel (2022), where she was voted the best player in the league, before returning to the WNBA.

Ariel Atkins

The shooting guard from Dallas (Texas) is one of the most veteran players on the team and Austin's teammate in the Washington Mystics, where she started as a professional player in 2018. She earned her Olympic gold in Tokyo 2020, and she is still considered one of the best defenders in the WNBA.

Aliyah Boston

Born in Saint Thomas, one of the United States Virgin Islands, she plays as a center and was chosen 'Rookie of the Year 2023' in her debut with the Indiana Fever, where she arrived as number 1 in the Draft from the University of South Carolina with a remarkable record, 129 wins, and 9 losses during her years in college.

Chelsea Gray

Another of the veterans is Chelsea Gray, the Californian shooting guard who plays for the Las Vegas Aces. She can also boast of winning Olympic gold with the United States at the Tokyo 2020 Games.

Brittney Griner

In addition to being one of the oldest players selected, Griner is one of the flagships of the Phoenix Mercury team. Born in Houston (Texas), she was the first NCAA player to score 2,000 points and block 500 shots. She was Player of the Year in 2012, and Olympic gold medalist in Tokyo.

Rhyne Howard

Ten years younger than Griner, the Tennessee point guard was the number 1 pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft, leaving behind her college basketball years with the Kentucky Wildcats to take the big leap in her career by joining the ranks of the Atlanta Dream, where she has stood out as one of the best players in the league.

Sabrina Ionescu

Sabrina Ionescu has the WNBA All-Star record for points (37) on three-point shots, with which she broke Stephen Curry's previous mark. She was also number 1 in the 2020 Draft when she began her adventure with New York Liberty in the WNBA.

Jewell Loyd

Another renowned veteran who is already over 30 is Jewell Loyd, who plays as a point guard and is one of the great icons of the WNBA after years of great success. She arrived as number one in the 2015 Draft. The gold medalist has also enjoyed some great basketball overseas, playing in Turkey, China, South Korea, and Spain.

Kelsey Plum

Also in the point guard position is the Californian Kelsey Plum, also part of the veterans' club and a gold medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In the WNBA, where she came from the University of Washington, she plays for the Las Vegas Aces.

Breanna Stewart

Born the same year as Plum (1994), the New York Liberty center and power forward came to the WNBA from the UConn Huskies of the University of Connecticut, a team with which she was a four-time NCAA champion. She signed for the Seattle Storm, where he won two rings (2018 and 2020), alongside two Olympic gold medals (2014 and 2018).

Diana Taurasi

By far the oldest of the players on this list, who, despite already being over 40 years old (she was born in 1982) continues to be one of the leaders of American women's basketball. The player for the Phoenix Mercury has 5 Olympic participations on her resume, three WNBA titles, and 6 EuroLeagues.

A'ja Wilson

Standing 1.96 meters, she is one of the tallest players on the team, which makes her lethal in the paint. She plays for the Las Vegas Aces, where she arrived as number 1 in the 2018 Draft.

Jackie Young

Born in Princeton (Indiana), she is also a player for the Las Vegas Aces after the franchise chose her as number 1 in the 2019 Draft. She played in the NCAA for Notre Dame Fighting Irish, with whom she reached two finals and won one in 2018.

Caitlin Clark

Among all the WNBA players, the exception is Caitlin Clark, who is still an NCAA player, where she leads the Iowa Hawkeyes. Clark has already become a fan favorite with her gracious style on the court and her ability to put a lot of points on the scoreboard! Let us know what you think of the 'Dream Team' in the comments!
