Throwback: The best moments of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
The most highly anticipated sporting event in the world returns on the 26th of July, with Paris hosting the Olympic Games.
Every Olympic Games possesses memories to last a lifetime for fans and athletes, so here are the best moments from the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021!
In one of the most defining moments in Olympic Games history, Qatar's Mutaz Barshim and Italy's Gianmarco Tamberi elected to share the gold medal in the men's high jump after they cleared 2.37m. None of the men could clear the Olympic record of 2.39m.

According to the Olympic website, Barshim asked an official, "Can we have two golds?" The official agreed, and the pair jumped into each other's arms in jubilation.
Before Tokyo 2020, no woman successfully defended the 100m and 200m titles, but Jamaica's Elaine Thompson-Herah ended that record emphatically after her two golds at the Rio Olympics in 2016.
The sprinting queen ran the 100m in 10.61 seconds, beating Florence Griffith Joyner's 33-year-old Olympic record of 10.62. Three days later, she cemented herself in Olympic history, winning the 200m gold with a time of 21.53 seconds, becoming the first to defend her 100m/200m titles.
The 100m sprint at the Tokyo Olympics was the most unpredictable in a decade, with Usain Bolt and the other sprinters of his era not in the Games. Italy's Marcell Jacobs was the man who came out on top, creating history for his country.
Jacobs made history by becoming the first Italian to qualify for the 100m finals and the first to win the 100m gold. He finished in 9.80 seconds, breaking the national and European records. Can he beat Noah Lyles in Paris?

US Gymnastics star Simone Biles is one of the most iconic athletes in Olympic Games history. She showed all her Olympic strength at the Games in Tokyo, astonishingly returning to competition on the final day after taking time away because of her mental health.
The NPR website reports Biles was suffering from the 'twisties,' when a gymnast feels lost in the air. She withdrew from three of the four events and returned to the balance beam final, winning a bronze medal – her seventh career Olympic medal.
Mariya Gorokhovskaya's record of seven medals at the 1952 Olympic Games was the most by a woman in Olympic Games history for almost 60 years. However, Australia's Emma McKeon had a Games to remember in Tokyo, miraculously matching the seven medals.
The Aussie swimmer won gold in the 50m freestyle (Olympic record), 100m freestyle, 4x100m freestyle relay, and 4x100m medley freestyle to go along with three bronze medals.
