Why wasn't Olivia Dunne at the 2024 Paris Olympics?
The USA Olympic team faced some complicated choices ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics, especially when creating a roster for the gymnastics team. Olivia Dune, also known as 'Livvy', was a clear candidate to join the team of elite gymnasts over in Europe, but was cut from the team. The LSU gymnast is considered to be one of the best in the world, so why didn't wee see her at Paris?

Her popularity led many to question her Olympic chances, and fans wondered whether she garnered any consideration for the team, according to Sporting News.
Dunne didn't make it to the 2024 Paris Olympics and will have to wait another four years to see if she gets called up by the USA Gymnastics team again, as they did in 2017. Her only appearance with Team USA was at the 2017 City of Jesolo Trophy.
Nevertheless, Dunne has extensive experience in both national and international championships. She competed in multiple U.S. National Championships from 2015-2018, and her best finish was 9th place all-around (as a junior) in 2017, according to Sports News.
Multiple reoccurring injuries hampered her 2018 and 2019 seasons, breaking her momentum. She returned to the scene in 2020, however, she dropped out of the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics Program before shifting her focus to LSU.
Dunne shifted her attention to NCAA gymnastics, and this began her successful college career. She became a specialist in uneven bars and floor exercises, leading her to great success within the NCAA world.
In 2021, Dunne was named an All-American on the uneven bars and achieved a career-high score on bars (9.925 - achieved twice), according to ESPN. Dunne led the LSU team to a great victory in the 2024 NCAA Championship.
Although Dunne is regarded as a great athlete and the star of the LSU team, she still fell short during the Olympic trials. The Top U.S. gymnasts (ex. Simone Biles, Suni Lee) posted higher scores during the trials, and Dunne's scores didn't match the Olympic team's top-level marks.
Before the Olympics, Dunne was already suffering from an ankle injury, two town labrums, and a torn bicep. She had to step aside, however, her mind is set on LA 2028, maybe we see her then.
