YouTuber MrBeast is now a key sponsor for the Charlotte Hornets
YouTuber MrBeast, aka Jimmy Donaldson, has struck a deal with the NBA's Charlotte Hornets to patch his snack company logo on the jersey.
MrBeasts' brand 'Feastables' is a chocolate bar company created in 2022 and has quickly risen to become a brand on the face of an NBA jersey.
In just the first few months of the business starting its venture, Donaldson's brand was making $10 million in revenue.
Feastables company CEO Reed Duscher said his company and The Hornets have been in discussion over a deal for the last few months.
According to bleacherreport.com, Duscher said: "We've been talking to the Hornets for four months. We were very interested because it would allow us to be the first creator-led brand to do a deal like this."
The Hornets' off-season has been dull, to say the least, failing to add any new marque players to the franchise to strengthen their playoff chances.
Despite the lack of action on the playing side of the franchise, this new deal could be a stroke of genius by the Charlotte front office.
The Hornets are looking for a Unique Selling Point that could bring more revenue and fans to a small market franchise like Charlotte, and the addition of MrBeast can do that.
On his main account 'MrBeast,' Donaldson has racked up 188,000,000 subscribers on YouTube, the second highest amount in the platform's history.
His promotion of Charlotte's jersey to his fans will drive merchandise sales and bring new basketball fans to the city of Charlotte.
MrBeast is also a North Carolina native, growing up in Greenville during childhood. The project looks to be a perfect fit for all parties involved.
According to Hornets PR, Hornets Sports and Entertainment president Fred Whitfield said: "We are excited to introduce MrBeast's fans to the Hornets and the Feastables brand to the NBA fans around the world through our jersey patch."
"We are confident this innovative, new partnership will be significantly beneficial for everyone involved. The two brands will also collaborate on digital media, content, and marketing opportunities."
In the past year, the Hornets have developed a poor reputation, with Miles Bridges and James Bouknight being two players getting held up by the law.
But with the addition of new owners and the signing of franchise player LaMelo Ball to a multi-year deal, things look to be on the rise for this young Charlotte Hornets roster.
The deal between MrBeast and the Charlotte Hornets is the first collaboration of its kind, and the Hornets may come to reap the benefits and become a big-time player in the NBA for years to come.
