10 Bold Predictions for Super Bowl LIX
The Super Bowl is just days away. Both the Eagles and Chiefs have a chance to make history, so we thought it would be a good time to look ahead to the game and make some predictions. Some will be bolder than others, but if they all occur, it could be one hell of a game!
Despite being exceptional when it matters, Patrick Mahomes has actually thrown five interceptions in his various Super Bowl appearances, per USA Today. Cooper DeJean has become an integral part of the Eagles’ secondary in his rookie season but hasn’t recorded an interception yet. Look for that to change on Sunday.
The Chiefs don’t possess a loaded wide receiver, with tight end Travis Kelce consistently being their go-to guy in the passing game. Vic Fangio and the Eagles will be keying on Kelce, which should open things up for veteran receiver Hollywood Brown.

Willie Parker currently holds the record for the longest run in Super Bowl history at 75-yards, which could be in danger on Sunday. Saquon Barkley has been breaking long runs for fun all season long, including a 65-yarder against the Saints in the Superdome earlier this year. The Chiefs will be looking to shut Barkley down, but so has every other team this year, and they have almost all failed.
This isn’t that bold, as the Chiefs’ run game isn’t explosive, and the Eagles boast the 4th-best defense against the run on an EPA/Play basis, per SumerSports. If Kareem Hunt and Isaiah Pacheco get stuffed, Mahomes will take it on himself to add yards as a runner, something he is more than capable of doing when needed.
Neither team possesses an elite edge rusher, but both defenses have been consistently getting to the quarterback all post-season. Jalen Carter and Chris Jones lead the way for both defenses, while Nolan Smith and George Karlaftis have been productive in the playoffs which suggests, despite good offensive lines, it could be a party at the QB all day for both teams.
Per NFL Network, Harrison Butker set a Super Bowl record with a 57-yard field goal in last year’s matchup against the 49ers. This year, he’s going to go even further, by breaking his own record against the Eagles.
We’re struggling to pick our favorite for this matchup, and expect it to be incredibly close. So close, in fact, that there will be nothing to separate the teams at the half.
In four Super Bowl appearances, Mahomes has only surpassed 300 yards once. That was last year against San Francisco, and he needed overtime to reach that marker. This year, he will need to bring his ‘A’ game if the Chiefs want to win.
In Super Bowl LVII, Jalen Hurts played a near-perfect game in defeat. This time, he will be even more motivated to perform well. A costly fumble in his last Super Bowl appearance was the only blight on an otherwise great game. We expect him to play with freedom and aggression… Will it be enough?
The Chiefs are looking to become the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row. We don’t think they will. The Eagles are too talented and too well coached this season to lose, even though we expect it to be close. Our final prediction is 31-26 Eagles.
