Decision time

The NFL season is reaching its conclusion, with just three games left to decide who lifts the Lombardi Trophy. Now, most teams will have switched their focus to the draft. This year is a strange one, with no obvious number one pick at this point, so we’re going to have to make some educated guesses along the way. Let’s take a look at who your team could select!

1: Tennessee Titans - Cam Ward

For us, Ward is the obvious choice at one. Shedeur Sanders is a talented player, but we don’t think he is at the same level as Ward. Ward has good arm talent and a rare calmness in the pocket, which are two things we believe translate well into the NFL.

2: Cleveland Browns - Shedeur Sanders

The Browns may continue to be patient at the quarterback position, but at some point, they need to take a swing. Sanders is a creator, able to turn broken plays into positive yardage but also has good command from within the pocket. It’s not a sure thing, though, so Cleveland could look elsewhere.

3: New York Giants - Travis Hunter

Hunter probably projects as a cornerback who plays some wide receiver in the NFL. The Giants need help at both positions, so if they can’t find a QB, they should be comfortable taking the most naturally talented player in the draft.

4: New England Patriots - Abdul Carter

The Pats need upgrades along the defensive and offensive lines as well as a host of other positions, which makes this selection intriguing. Given their recent hiring of Mike Vrabel, however, we think they stick at four and take the best edge rusher in the class.

5: Jacksonville Jaguars - Will Campbell

The Jags have some good players on defense, which the right coach should be able to turn into a good unit. It’s harder to do on the offensive side when you don’t have a good o-line, so take Campbell, stick him at left tackle and don’t overthink this.

6: Las Vegas Raiders - Mykel Williams

The Raiders are another team that is hard to read at the moment, as they have numerous areas in need of an upgrade. Mykel Williams could be the best pure pass-rusher in the draft when it’s all said and done, and it’s never a bad idea to draft a player like that.

7: New York Jets - Mason Graham

Recent reports suggest the Jets are aiming to hire Aaron Glenn as their new head coach. If they do, we could see them look to bolster their defensive line early in the draft. Mason Graham was the picture of consistency at Michigan and should pair nicely with Quinnen Williams.

8: Carolina Panthers - Luther Burden

Jason McIntyre recently mocked the Panthers' Tetairoa McMillan, explaining that he, “went offense here to help continue Bryce Young’s strong finish to the season.” We are following similar logic, we just think Burden could test so well that he finishes draft season as the number one guy.

9: New Orleans Saints - Will Johnson

The Saints let Marshon Lattimore leave via trade in the middle of the season and need to find a replacement at some point. In this mock, the perfect option falls to them at 9 with Michigan stud Will Johnson projecting as a day one starter and a potentially elite NFL defensive back.

10: Chicago Bears - Tate Ratledge

Taking a guard with the 10th pick in the draft isn’t always a wise decision, but given Ben Johnson’s experience in Detroit, surely the first thing he looks to do is upgrade the Bears OL. Ratledge is a big, physical guard who can help in both the run and pass game and take some pressure off Caleb Williams.

11: San Francisco 49ers - Kelvin Banks Jr.

We have never been 100% convinced by Brock Purdy, but it’s fair to say he hasn’t always had a great offensive line in front of him. Banks projects as an athletic tackle possibly more suited to the left side, but with Trent Williams still locking that edge down for the Niners, Banks can slide to RT to learn the NFL ropes.

12: Dallas Cowboys - Wyatt Milum

NFL Draft Buzz has Wyatt Milum ranked as their second-best offensive tackle in the draft, which should be music to the Cowboys’ ears as they look to solidify a unit that has regressed year-on-year.

13: Miami Dolphins - Isaiah Bond

Tyreek Hill expressed his desire to leave Miami at the conclusion of their season. If Miami is going to continue to have the fastest offense in football, look no further than Isaiah Bond. Bond has a chance to break the 40-yard dash record and should fit perfectly in Mike McDaniels’ scheme.

14: Indianapolis Colts - Malaki Starks

The obvious suggestion here is Tyler Warren, who has been mocked to the Colts may many outlets. And we understand why given the Colts’ tight ends currently. Instead, we are giving them Malaki Starks, who is the best safety in this class and could be the best defensive back period.

15: Atlanta Falcons - James Pearce Jr.

Pearce isn’t going to blow anyone away with his size, but his athleticism is through the roof. The Falcons haven’t had a consistent pass-rush for some time now and need to make it a priority. Pearce could be the best option available.

16: Arizona Cardinals - Tetairoa McMillan

McMillan could go significantly higher than this, we just want to see his testing numbers, as he doesn’t look the most explosive player to us. What he does offer is huge size (6’5”, 212lbs) and the ability to go up and get it over any defensive back. Give Kyler Murray another star wide out and let them get to work.

17: Cincinnati Bengals - Tre Harris

We’re hoping the Bengals spend money on the defense in this year’s free agency, given the talent drain on that side of the ball in recent years. If they do, Tee Higgins could be an unfortunate cap-casualty. If he is, the Bengals respond by bringing in a player with a similar profile in Harris to shore up the gap.

18: Seattle Seahawks - Jaxson Dart

At some point, another quarterback will be selected, and we think it’s between Jalen Milroe or Jaxson Dart. At this point, we have Dart as slightly ahead and could see him fitting into Seattle’s aggressive system nicely. Not huge or an elite athlete, Dart will have to interview well to get selected this high, though.

19: Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Tyler Warren

Tyler Warren probably won’t fall to 19, but in this mock, he has. Warren is huge and a plus athlete who could be a perfect addition to the Bucs offense. Tampa Bay doesn’t currently posses an elite tight end, so why not draft one?

20: Denver Broncos - Harold Fannin Jr.

Fannin is rated by some as the top tight end in the draft, and we can see why. He isn’t as big as Tyler Warren, but he is an even better athlete. Given Denver’s offense relied on YAC at times last year, why not select the most explosive tight end in the draft who can take it the distance from anywhere?

21: Pittsburgh Steelers - Emeka Egbuka

Emeka Egbuka is about as consistent as it gets when it comes to receivers. George Pickens shouldered a lot of the receiving burden in Pittsburgh last season, so this offseason finding a running mate for him should be a priority.

22: Los Angeles Chargers - Ashton Jeanty

If anyone is going to take a running back in the first round, it’s going to be Jim Harbaugh and the Chargers. Jeanty is a special prospect and could transform the Chargers’ offense if he can break tackles in the NFL like he did in college.

23: Green Bay Packers - Jahdae Barron

Jaire Alexander is possibly moving on from Green Bay, leaving a void at cornerback. The Packers fill the void with Jahdae Barron, whose size (5’11, 200lbs) and athleticism are prototypical for the position.

24: Minnesota Vikings - Aireontae Ersery

The Vikings look in-state for a solution to their offensive line problems. He’s a monster of a man who played most of his football at left tackle in college. The Vikings need multiple upgrades along the offensive line, meaning Ersey could slide inside if required.

25: Houston Texans - Walter Nolen

The Texans are another team that could use some help along the offensive line, however, they could also look to bolster their defensive interior. Cameron Williams from Texas would be the other name we were thinking of if Houston decides to go for an OT.

26: Los Angeles Rams - Josh Simmons

The Rams’ offensive line is OK, but as we all saw last weekend against the Eagles, some improvements are required. Josh Simmons projects as one of the best left tackles in the draft, even if there are some concerns around his knee injury, per CBS Sports.

27: Baltimore Ravens - Nic Scourton

Nic Scourton is a huge man, standing 6’4” and 285 lbs. When you think of Ravens football, you think of physicality, which is exactly what Scourton brings. Like so many teams in this draft, offensive line could be a target area too, but Scourton provides the most upside here in our opinion.

28: Detroit Lions - Jack Sawyer

The Lions are set to lose Aaron Glenn to a head coaching role, per multiple reports. If that is the case, Detroit should look to upgrade their personnel on that side of the ball to ease the drop-off. The easiest way to do that, is to find a complementary pass-rusher across from Aidan Hutchinson, and Sawyer could be that player.
