Kylian Mbappe’s broken nose has become the major talking point for France during their Euro 2024 with coach Didier Deschamps describing it as “a major shock,” per The Daily Mail.

Surgery

Deschamps continued, explaining the new Real Madrid striker will require surgery after the tournament, but the team has decided to delay it to give Mbappe the best chance to return.

“Everything necessary”

French fans will be waiting nervously for more updates from the team, with Deschamps claiming he is, “already a little bit better,” following treatment, with the team’s doctors doing, “did everything necessary to reduce it as much as possible.”

Unclear

Whether Mbappe returns could be key for France’s chances at the tournament, given his incredible abilities. French Football Federation Philippe Diallo telling the press it is, “too soon to know,” if the former PSG man can return in time, per The Independent.

Facemask

A statement released by the FFF provided further details but was unable to give further updates on any timeline. It did confirm “A mask will be made for him so that the number 10 of the French national team can prepare for his return to the competition after a period dedicated to treatment,” following Mbappe’s recent post on social media asking for mask ideas.

“Stronger with him”

When asked directly if Mbappe will return for France’s match against the Netherlands, Didier Deschamps responded, “I'm not going to go into hypothesis but the French team with Kylian will always be stronger with him.”

“Fight without him”

The French coach continued, “If the news doesn't go along these lines then we will have to fight without him,” per BBC Sport.

Rabiot’s update

Adrien Rabiot, Mbappe’s teammate in the national side, told reporters, “maybe he'll be ready for the third match,” against Poland on the 25th of June.

Still formidable

Even without Mbappe, France still boast one of the best teams in the competition. Either Olivier Giroud or Randal Kolo Muani will presumably start in his place, not bad replacements.
