Basketball player Janis Timma found dead in Moscow, tragic details emerge
Tragic news has emerged from Moscow: basketball player Janis Timma has been found dead at the entrance of a hotel in the Russian capital.
According to TASS, early reports suggest that the player may have taken his own life, as indicated by statements from emergency services to the Russian news agency.
The 32-year-old Latvian player was found with his mobile phone, which displayed the message "Call Anna" along with the phone number of his wife, from whom he had reportedly separated just days earlier.

The message referred to Anna Sedokova, a well-known Ukrainian singer and actress. She and Timma had a tumultuous marriage that began in 2020 and officially ended on December 9, when they finalized their divorce.
The couple did not have children together, but according to Anna Sedokova, "they had broken up 20 times" before reconciling, as reported by TASS.
Timma was no stranger to sharing his personal demons with the world, and often used his Instagram profile to express his emotions and mental anguish.
On the same social network, as reported by Basketnews, Timma accused Sedokova of prioritizing money over love.
Timma was in Moscow attempting to revive his sports career, which is why he had traveled there to compete in the 'Media Basket' 3x3 tournament, representing the Alikson Team.
Before his tragic death, Timma had played for some of the top teams in Europe, including BC Zenit St. Petersburg, Saski Baskonia, Olympiacos BC, UNICS Kazan, and, most recently, Obradoiro CAB last season.
