Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson is confirmed! Is he on track to become a world champion?

Jake Paul has confirmed on his Instagram that he will fight former boxing heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson on July 20 live on Netflix.

According to Paul's Instagram, he said: "My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have the chance to prove myself against the greatest champion of the world."

Paul, the YouTuber turned professional boxer, carried on his rise through the boxing ranks last weekend, defeating Ryan Bourland in the first round.

Paul quickly dismantled Bourland with a TKO first-round finish after a flurry of jabs to the body and the chin, according to The Independent.

The American has now moved to a record of nine wins and one loss and defeated two professional boxers in a row after beating Andre August in December 2023.

In classic Jake Paul fashion, the YouTube star turned-boxer couldn't hide away from controversy on Twitter, claiming he will go right to the top of the sport.

According to Jake Paul's Twitter account, he said: "Facts. They are all great fighters. My path may be different, but the destination is going to be the same. World champion by 2026."

As many would expect, Paul had people disagreeing with his statement, but he has shown he can compete against some of the best combat fighters of all time.

Despite a loss to Fury last year, Paul has an impressive record against UFC fighters, winning all five of his showdowns.

Other than Ben Askren, Paul's UFC opponents have been notoriously good strikers, beating Anderson Silva, Tyrone Woodley, and now Nate Diaz, as reported ESPN.

Oscar De La Hoya, the 11-time world champion in six different weight divisions, heaped praise on Paul and thanked him for what he has done for the sport.

According to @OscarDeLaHoya on Twitter, the former world champion said: "Thank you, Jake Paul, for introducing young fans to the sport I love most. You have a lot of (stuff) to work on in the ring, but in time I believe you will challenge for a world title."

At just 27 years old, Paul still has a long way to go in a sport that typically sees its athletes compete until they are in their late 30s and early 40s.

According to the Daily Mail, Paul said: "I want Canelo. I want all the biggest names. Like I said, I'm the face of this sport. Truly, who's doing more for boxing than me? I keep on proving myself time and time again."

"But I'm ready. I'm getting sharp. This is my life now, and, like I said, I'm on the road to becoming a world champion."
