Ones to Watch: The new faces of the 2023 Formula One season

Formula One is the pinnacle of motor racing, housing only 20 seats on the track for the best drivers in the world.

As the 2023 Formula One season quickly approaches, there is a new look to the majority of the teams on the grid.

Let's look through some of the new drivers who are looking to make a name for themselves in the new season.

Since joining the Williams Driver Academy in 2021, Logan Sargeant was required to finish sixth or higher in the Formula Two Championship to gain a place on the Williams F1 team.

After finishing fourth in last year's Formula Two, Sargeant has replaced Nicholas Latifi as the Williams number two driver with Alex Albon as number one.

Nico Hulkenberg is no stranger to the Formula One paddock, entering 184 races in ten years between 2010 and 2020.

The German driver returns to the F1 circuit in 2023 with Team Haas after the team relieved Mick Schumacher of his duties due to his poor performances last season.

Oscar Piastri is one of motor racing's most promising drivers heading into his F1 debut season, winning the F3 and F2 Championships consecutively and championing F2 as a rookie.

Piastri was the Alpine reserve driver last season but controversially rejected their offer as a main driver for this season, choosing McLaren instead.

As well as new drivers coming into Formula One for the new season, some racers have changed allegiances heading into the new year.

Pierre Gasly's impressive performance for AlphaTauri, scoring 23 points in a low performance, has earned him a move to Alpine, who finished fourth in the Constructors Championship in 2022.

Two-time F1 World Champion Fernando Alonso has moved from Alpine to Aston Martin after Sebastien Vettel retired from the sport in 2022.

The 2022 season was the end for some drivers who will not be on the grid for this upcoming year.

Danial Riccardo, Nicholas Latifi, Mick Schumacher, and Sebastian Vettel are all the drivers who haven't got a main seat on the paddock this season.

The top three teams have all confirmed their seats for the new, leaving them all unchanged from the previous season.

Lewis Hamilton and George Russell will be racing for Mercedes, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez for Red Bull, and Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be representing Ferrari.

The action starts this weekend on Sunday, the 5^th of March, at the Bahrain International Circuit.
