The Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Celebrities take a swing

The Pebble Beach Pro-Am kicked off with a total of 156 amateurs, pairing up with 156 professionals in the field. Amateurs like Gareth Bale, Pau Gasol, Aaron Rogers, Steve Young, and Bill Murray were knee-deep in the greens at the Monterey Peninsula golf courses.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is a historic golfing tournament that dates back to the 1930s. A unique tournament structure where world-class athletes, musicians, actors, and entertainers tee it up alongside other golfing pros.

The pros played their tournament while simultaneously teaming up with their amateur partners for a team score. Each team played one round on Pebble Beach Golf Links, Spyglass Hill, and Monterey Peninsula Country Club’s Shore Course.

The PGA tour structure is designed for 36 holes in total, but for this week's tournament, it was extended to 54 holes.

The Green Bay Packers quarterback, Aaron Roger, and his partner Ben Silverman took a decisive lead over the weekend. The duo consolidated their lead and ended with a -26 score.

During the Sunday final, previous Pebble Beach winners Peter Malnati and Dan Colleran fell short by one swing. The duo was chasing Rogers and Silverman but fell short in the end, ending in 2nd place.

Aaron Rogers was satisfied with the triumph on Sunday, as this had been one of his greatest golfing achievements.

The NFL quarterback also participated in golfing tournaments around Lake Tahoe previously but never ranked higher than 8th place.

Gareth Bale was another big amateur appearance at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. The retired Welsh football player alongside his partner Joseph Bramlett finished the tournament at the top 16 with a -16 score.

The ex-football player became known as 'The Golfer' during his spell with Real Madrid and his apparent obsession with the game earned him plenty of flak from fans.

As of last year, Bale's handicap was an impressive two. Despite his undeniably high caliber as an amateur golfer, the Cardiff-born player had always been adamant that golf was his hobby.

Pau Gasol was another amateur golfer paired up with Mark Hubbard to reach the top 10 in the tournament. The retired NBA player gave a great display of swings which culminated in a -18 score, placing the duo 9th on the rankings.

The NBA legend left spectators in awe after his jaw-dropping performance, at times scoring better than his pro teammate Mark Hubbard. Gasol's progress, despite golfing only for a couple of months, is extremely positive.

Justin Rose took all the drama out of a long week with three quick birdies that sent him to a three-shot victory. Justin ended his four-year drought and is now again available for the Masters.

He finished at 18-under 269 and won for the 11th time on the PGA Tour, making it his 23rd title worldwide over the last two decades.

The Pebble Beach Pro-Am ended with a stunning blue sky and a beautiful surf crashing against the rocks. A thrilling golfing event that just gets better every year!
