Tottenham set to build indoor racing track in new stadium after inking F1 deal

Tottenham Hotspurs FC has just signed an ambitious deal with the F1 to house the world’s first in-stadium electric karting facility as a part of a new 15-year strategic partnership with Formula One. The karting venue is set to be built under the South Stand and is expected to be the longest indoor track in London!

The new state-of-the-art stadium for Tottenham, built-in 2019 near old White Hart Lane, is set to become one of Europe's greatest stadiums.

Tottenham’s stadium already hosts some of the world's most thrilling football. Still, the club wants to expand its revenue capabilities and bring other leisure activities into the stadium.

The North London stadium already hosts music concerts, boxing matches, and even rugby games! This multi-faceted stadium will add new facilities to accommodate the new F1 partnership by adding two separate tracks for both adults and juniors.

It has been accredited by the National Karting Associating, making the race track a potential future venue for UK championship races.

What does football have to do with Formula One? The karting experience is being hailed by the club as a long-term partnership that Tottenham and F1 hope will create apprenticeship and career opportunities for the local community.

Formula One’s partnership with Tottenham will allow the stadium to promote local activities and attract local talents in the area of London, bringing greater diversity to the motorsport industry.

There is the belief that the driver academy program at the Tottenham stadium will widen the motorsport talent pool and help identify the next generation of talented F1 drivers.

The club and the F1 have pledged to deliver educational activities for local schools, engage local youth in motorsports, and showcase career opportunities and pathways in areas such as engineering or software development.

“The karting experience will be a destination and a place that families, friends, and aspiring drivers from all over the will want to visit and enjoy, engaging new audiences and offering an accessible entry to the world o motorsport”, said Stefano Domencali, Formula One CEO.

Stefano Domencali also stated: “As we continue to grow our sport around the world, partnering with world-renowned brands like Tottenham Hotspur allows us to take F1 and motorsport to new and diverse audiences.”

Tottenham’s board of directors added: “ Since building this stadium our ambition has always been to see how far we can push the boundaries in delivering world-class experiences that will attract people from around the world all year around. We are extremely excited about what this long-term partnership with F1 will bring for our global, national, and local communities.”

Tottenham’s connection with the moto racing world dates back to 2008, with the Superleague Formula competition which lasted until 2011. The ‘Lilywhites’ along with AC Milan, Liverpool, and Atletico Madrid participated to join the single-seater racing competition as sponsors.

The Spurs participated in the racing competition until 2010 despite having their driver, Craig Dolby finish in second place for two consecutive years.

The North London club has been mingling with multiple partnerships to strengthen the team's finances and overall exposure. The team seems to be heading in the right direction with some positive finishes in the Premier League during the past five years.

The club's growth can be attributed to the player's results on the pitch but the Spurs’ board of directors is heading in the right direction!
