Unpacking the kickboxing career of Andrew Tate

Andrew Tate has been the most controversial human being over the last two years with his strong views on men and his not-so-kind views on women.

However, away from the current headlines he dominates today, Andrew Tate had an almighty kickboxing career in his previous life.

Let's look back at the sporting career that shaped his life today.

Andrew Tate started practicing martial arts and boxing in 2005 and worked in the TV advertising industry to support his career.

The 'cobra' fought tough opponents right from the start and challenged British kickboxing champion Scott Gibson in 2007 for the British light-heavyweight title.

Tate scored victories over former British champions Ollie Green and Mo Karbo and fought Paul Randall for the vacant ISKA English Kickboxing Light-cruiserweight title.

'Cobra' Tate beat Randall in the fifth round to claim the belt, eventually going on to beat Daniel Hughes in the first round for the International Kickboxing Federation British Cruiserweight title.

After dominating in England, Tate fought for his first ISKA world Full-Contact light heavyweight title in 2011 where he would face seasoned veteran Jean Luc Benoit.

His fight with Benoit didn't go to plan, eventually losing on points after 12 rounds, but many believed he was the actual winner.

With the fight being so closely contested, Tate and Benoit had a rematch in Luton, England, just three months after the previous bout.

Tate became the ISKA world Full-Contact light heavyweight championship in the eighth round due to a spectacular knockout to finish the match.

After winning the light heavyweight world title in 2011, Tate challenged Vincent Petitjean to ISKA Full-Contact Light Cruiserweight Championship.

The fight was held in France on the March 9 2013, with Tate taking the championship via split decision, becoming a two-weight kickboxing world champion.

Tate successfully defended his Light Cruiserweight title a year later at the Power Trophy event.

At the event, he would face Frenchman Cyril Vetter who he stopped in the first round.

Post winning his ISKA World Championships, Tate had some very near misses at the World Enfusion Championships.

Tate took four victories in the Enfusion Live Ring, giving him a chance at the Enfusion World Championship. However, he lost in the semi-final by a unanimous decision to Miroslav Cingel.

Despite his loss in the 2013 Enfusion -85kg World Championship in the semi-final but got the opportunity to test himself in the -90kg championship a year later.

He took on Kickboxing veteran Wendell Roche and defeated him in the second round, becoming only the second fighter that stopped Roche in his 200-fight career.

The controversial figure's last recorded fight was in 2020 against Cosmin Lingurar, finishing his career  one of the best kickboxers in the last 20 years, some pundits suggest. However this is heavily disupted in the kickboxing world.

There is no official record of Tate's fighting career, however, with some saying he had 76 wins and nine losses and other reports saying he had 43 wins and nine losses, according to sportsmanor.com.
