2024 NFL Season: Ranking the top offenses in football

The NFL season is nearly here (finally!) so we thought it would be a good time to take a look at the best offenses in football, let’s take a look at who we think will be nigh on unstoppable in 2024.

The Texans could finish in the top five if things go exactly as planned in 2024 and C.J. Stroud continues his rapid ascension. The fact they’re tenth isn’t an indictment on them at all, more just the incredible collections of talent other teams have compiled. Shoutout to the Packers who were in contention but just missed out. They could easily prove us wrong, though!

The Eagles finished second in offensive DVOA just two seasons ago with more or less the same personnel, per FTN Fantasy. This year, they look absolutely stacked with the addition of Saquon Barkley and Jahan Dotson adding new dimensions to an already great unit. Cam Jurgens has huge shoes to fill replacing Jason Kelce at center, with potentially a lot riding on his performance.

The Ringer ranked the Bengals sixth in their offensive rankings, so we are a little lower than they are. However, they do make a good point that even without Joe Burrow for most of last season, they still finished 11th in offensive efficiency. A full season of Burrow, and with a healthy offensive line, this could become an elite unit.

The Bills finished second in last year’s DVOA rankings but have since lost Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis, leaving rookie Keon Coleman as the expected number-one receiver. Ultimately, if Josh Allen plays like he did last year, it won’t matter who’s catching passes, he’s simply too good to be stopped with any consistency.

There’s an argument the Dolphins possess the most exciting offense in football, but as we saw time and time again last season, they struggle against the top teams. As Gennaro Filice asks for NFL Media, “are the Dolphins overestimating its ability to trivialize the basics of blocking?” given their offensive line issues.

Dallas finished fourth in the DOVA rankings a year ago per FTN Fantasy and fourth again in points per game, yet they have been left off the NFL website’s offensive top-10 rankings, which we find strange. Maybe they know something we don’t, but an offense starring Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb will never be bad.

Last year’s DVOA leaders won’t get worse in 2024, we just think other teams might surpass them. The addition of Derrick Henry will leave defensive coordinators in a bind all season. If Lamar Jackson can stay healthy, there’s a very good chance we could see the Ravens lifting the Lombardi trophy next February.

As Sheil Kapadia writes for The Ringer, “I’m struggling to find legit reasons why this group won’t be just as good as it was last season,” we’re in the same boat given the Lions are returning basically the same starting 11, and were able to hold on to offensive guru Ben Johnson in the offseason.

Ranked number one by Gennaro Filice for NFL Media, the Niners are considered as much of a sure thing as there is in football. Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle, and possibly still Brandon Aiyuck make for difficult reading for opposing defenses, there’s almost no weaknesses.

The Chiefs have won back-to-back Super Bowls with a bunch of replacement-level wide receivers, now they’ve added Marquise Brown and Xavier Worthy to the roster. Both players can get behind defenses and look set for huge years catching passes from the best player in football (maybe ever) in Patrick Mahomes.
