Germany will host the Euro 2024, where 24 of the best European national teams will go head to head to reach the final. Some of the best European players will be present on the pitch, providing some great quality football. However, there will be important absences... Much like Manchester City's striker, Erling Haaland who will not attend after Norway was knocked out.

Raheem Sterling (England)

The 29-year-old Chelsea forward, a regular in the English team since 2012, will not be joining the 'Three Lions' on their way to Germany after not being called up by Gareth Southgate.

 

Isco Alarcon (Spain)

Isco Alarcon seemed to be a solid option for Spanish coach Luis de la Fuente, after a remarkable season with Betis. Nevertheless, the 32-year-old midfielder was not called up to the team.

Leon Goretzka (Germany)

The Bayern Munich midfielder has been one of those sacrificed by coach Julian Nagelsmann, who will not count for the Euro 2024. It has been one of the most surprising absences among the Germans.

Alexander Isak (Sweden)

Scandinavian football has been one of the worst off during the qualifying phase for this European Championship in Germany. Much like Norway, the Swedish national team will not be present. Their striker Alexander Isak will have to miss out too.

Edin Džeko (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

Bosnia and Herzegovina failed to beat Ukraine in the semifinals of Route B of the European Championship qualifying playoffs. That defeat ended Edin Džeko's (38) possibilities of playing in another great European tournament.

Thibaut Courtois (Belgium)

The Real Madrid goalkeeper has been out for almost the entire season due to a ligament injury in his left knee and the Belgium coach himself, Domenico Tedesco, publicly ruled him out to draw up his list of players.

David Alaba (Austria)

Alaba also suffered a ligament tear in his left knee, which has kept him off the field for the entire season. He will not make it to the Euros to play for Austria either.

Domenico Berardi (Italy)

The Sassuolo right winger has been one of the regulars for Luciano Spaletti in the Italian team, which, despite qualifying for the Euro 2024, will not be able to count on the attacker due to a significant Achilles tendon injury.

Brennan Johnson (Wales)

The young Tottenham striker will not be able to demonstrate his qualities in the Euros 2024 alongside Wales. They failed to beat Poland, falling short in the qualifying stages.

Moussa Diaby (France)

After his triumphant passage through Germany as a Bayer Leverkusen player, Moussa Diaby made his debut in the Premier League with Aston Villa, who finished the season in fourth place, thanks to the work of the French striker. Nevertheless, Deschamps has opted him out of the Fench national team.

 

Reece James (England)

The Chelsea full-back returned to the playing field in May after five months out due to injury. He did it in a big way, even giving an assist, but it seems that Southgate has preferred not to count on him for the Euros.

Martin Ødegaard (Norway)

Martin Ødegaard, beacon and guide for Mikel Arteta's Arsenal, will not be at the German Euros following Norway qualifying slip-up.

Miralem Pjanić (Bosnia and Herzegovina)

At 34 years old and like his compatriot Edin Džeko, the talented midfielder Miralem Pjanić, who currently plays for Sharjah FC in the Saudi Pro League, will not be able to attend as Bosnia and Herzegovina failed to qualify.

Gavi (Spain)

The FC Barcelona midfielder suffered a horrible injury to his right knee, which saw him out a large part of the season. He has been unable to recover in time and will not be able to join Spain in their quest for their fourth European title.

 

Evan Ferguson (Ireland)

At 19 years old, he still has many opportunities ahead of him to play! The young attacking star of Brighton & Hove Albion FC will not be there, since his team was left out in the qualifying phase.

Sandro Tonali (Italy)

The young 24-year-old midfielder from Newcastle has played with the senior Italian team since 2019, but will not be able to be present with the 'Azzurra' in Germany due to a sanction imposed by FIFA until September 2024 for placing sports bets.

Alexander Sørloth (Norway)

Another important name left out of the Euros is Norwegian Alexander Sørloth. He was one of the top scorers in la Liga, but the striker will have to watch the Euros as a spectator.

Christopher Nkunku (France)

Injuries have not stopped chasing the French forward since 2022, a problem he has faced since joining Chelsea. Deschamps has ruled him out for the European Championship due to “lack of form”.

Marcus Rashford (England)

It has not been a good year for the Manchester United striker. Despite his renewal with the 'Red Devils', his performance has dropped a lot this season, losing a little confidence in his club, to which numerous criticisms have been added for his nights out.

 

Mats Hummels (Germany)

Mats Hummels has been one of the pillars that has led Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final. Which is why the absence of the central defender from the list for Germany drawn up by coach Julian Nagelsmann has surprised more than one.

Dejan Kulusevski (Sweden)

The Tottenham midfielder is another of the leaders of the Swedish team that has been left out of these Euros after falling in the qualifying stage. His great quality has shown in the Premier League.

Sven Botman (Netherlands)

Lukáš Hrádecký (Finland)

The wall under the sticks of Xabi Alonso's surprising Bayer Leverkusen, winner of the Bundesliga and finalist of the Europa League. The Finnish goalkeeper will not play in the Euros after Finland was eliminated in the qualifying phase behind Denmark and Slovenia.

Raphaël Varane (France)

The French central defender has said goodbye to Manchester United after three seasons at Old Trafford. At age 31 and in search of a new team, he won't be joining the French national team in Germany.

 

 

Victor Lindelöf (Sweden)

The Swede Victor Lindelöf, will not attend the Euros either, in his case because his team has not qualified.

Jurriën Timber (Netherlands)

The Arsenal defender suffered a serious ligament injury in August 2023 during the Community Shield Cup. He will not be able to defend the colours of the Netherlands in the Euros.

Stefan Savić (Montenegro)

Savic will be another absence to the Euros as Montenegro failed to qualify.

Lucas Hernandez (France)

There has been no shortage of injuries this year... PSG defender Lucas Hernadez faces the same issue as many other players on this list. Deschamps won't count with him for the German Euros.
