Better than Brady? Patrick Mahomes' unmatched career at 28

Born on 17th September 1995 and aged 28, it's hard to imagine if any other 28-year-olds have achieved as much as Kansas City Chiefs star Patrick Mahomes.

At the beginning of this month, Mahomes won his third NFL Super Bowl, matching only Tom Brady to win three Super Bowls at 28 years old, as reported by Diario AS.

Mahomes has already made six straight AFC Championship games in seven seasons, gone to four Super Bowls, and won three, losing the one to Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Having already won two regular season MVPs and three Super Bowl MVPs, Mahomes is already being compared to NFL GOAT Tom Brady, who eventually won seven Super Bowl rings before retiring at 45 years old.

However, if you compare their careers from the start to the age of 28, Mahomes completely dominates Brady in nearly every category.

As reported by The Score website, Mahomes is statistically better than Brady in passing completion (61.9% – 66.5%), passing touchdowns (123-219), passer rating (88.5 – 103.5), Pro Bowl selections (3-6), and League MVPs (0-2).

According to Diaro AS, by the time he had turned 28 years old, Tom Brady was 10-1 in the playoffs with three rings. In comparison, Mahomes is 14-3 with three rings as well.

Speaking after his Super Bowl victory, Mahomes said: "It's the start of a dynasty, but it's not done." The Chiefs QB seems to have everything taken care of on the field, but his off-the-field resume is equally impressive.

According to the NFL website, Mahomes signed the most expensive contract in NFL history in 2020, agreeing to a ten-year $450 million extension through to the 2031 season.

In September 2023, Mahomes agreed to a contract reconstruction that pays the QB $210.6 million between 2023 and 2026, the most in history over four years.

After committing his future to the Kansas City Chiefs on a ten-year contract, Mahomes has since developed his real estate projects, having three properties in Missouri and one in Texas worth $8 million, according to the Manilla Bulletin.

Mahomes acquired a $350,000 condo when he signed in 2017 and then bought a $1.8 million property in the Kansas City suburbs in 2019. He has a $3.37 million home in Westlake, Texas, and his most recent purchase was a plot of land to build his own house, with a par three golf hole and his football pitch.

The reigning Super Bowl MVP has already stepped foot in the world of ownership, having stakes in the Alpine Formula One team, MLS's Sporting Kansas City, MLB's Kansas City Royals, and the NWSL's Kansas City Current with his wife Brittany, as reported by Yahoo Sports.

According to Yahoo Sports, Mahomes said: "I'm always looking around. I can't do it in the NFL while I'm playing, so I'm always looking around at other sports. It's hard to get in all sports, NBA and all that different type of stuff, but I'm always keeping my ears open."

As well as his ownership and real estate ventures, Forbes reported that the Kansas City quarterback made $20 million in sponsorship deals in 2023, having paired with the likes of Adidas, Prime, State Farm, Oakley, Bose, Head and Shoulders, etc.
