BMX legend Pat Casey dead at 29 after tragic accident

The BMX world is mourning the loss of one of their greatest talents this week, with the sudden and tragic death of star Pat Casey.

The BMX star was practicing motocross on Tuesday, June 6 at Slayground Motocross Park, a track owned by rider Axell Hodges, east of Ramona, California.

During practice, Pat Casey did a dirt jump that caused the bike to fall on him.

Although paramedics arrived quickly and tried for an hour to revive the young rider, they could not save his life.

The San Diego County Department of the Medical Examiner confirmed the cause of death was the motorcycle impact on Casey. What was particularly tragic about the accident was that the driver's family was also at the race track.

According to Fox News, both his wife, Chase Casey, and their two children, Reid, age 8, and Taytum, age 7, witnessed the accident and their father's subsequent death.

Pat Casey leaves behind an indelible legacy in the BMX world. For example, in 2011 he became the first rider in history to do a decade backflip.

He also goes with the honor of having done the Double Decade Backflip and owning multiple medals in BMX, including gold at the X Games 2021, in dirt.

A year later he took the silver medal at the first edition of 'MegaPark', beaten only by another BMX legend, Ryan Williams. In the meantime, he taught his children to follow in his footsteps.

Despite his young age of 29, Pat Casey has achieved a great deal both personally and professionally.

At just 16 years old, Pat Casey was already a BMX pro thanks to coaching on the mini ramp his father built for him.

Two years later, at the age of 18, he had already bought the house of his dreams, which he has shown more than once in his videos.

Another two years later, in 2013, Pat Casey married Chase Casey, who became the mother of his two children.

When asked why he got married so young, Casey replied that if he had hit the jackpot, it was absurd not to do so.

Always with his wife and children by his side, Pat Casey created legendary jumps, won competitions around the world, was on the covers of magazines and most of all he was a good father, a good husband and a great athlete like his wife often confirmed on social media. Rest in peace.
