New coaching role

The NFL legend has recently taken on a new head coaching role off the back of his success coaching the Jackson State Tigers.

The news from nfl.com shocked the college football world after leading the Tigers to 12-0 in 2022 and a 27-5 record overall in his two-year stint with the team.

Colorado State

Formerly a Power 5 standout, Sanders joins the Colorado Buffaloes, who will be hoping 'Prime Time' can turn things around the for team and bring back a winning culture.

Losing record

According to ESPN, in 2022, the Buffaloes had an abysmal record, only winning one game in 12 under the coaching partnership of Karl Dorrell and Mike Sanford.

Recruiting the best

With a name as lucrative as Deion Sanders, attracting five-star recruits to any program will never be an issue for 'Coach Prime.'

Jackson State to Colorado

Since his appointment to Colorado on December 4th, Sanders has already taken six players from his winning former program at Jackson State.

The players who have joined

According to sports.yahoo.com, Colorado football has added quarterback Shedeur Sanders, defensive back Shilo Sanders, Travis Hunter, safety Cam'Ron Simon-Craig, offensive lineman Tyler Brown, and Alejandro Mata from Jackson State.

Where does ‘Prime Time’ come from?

The 'Prime Time' moniker was conceived in Sanders' High School days after scoring 30 points in a basketball game. However, it wasn't until his junior year at Florida State that the 'Prime Time' name entered the public vernacular.

Gaining media attention

Regarded as the best cornerback in the country at the time, Sanders started to appear in designer clothes and expensive jewellery to force the spotlight on himself.

Getting paid

With the cameras solely focused on him, according to the New York Times, Sanders landed the biggest contract a defensive back had ever got in NFL draft history – earning $4.4 million over four years.

Excelling at two sports

Sanders is one of the only players in American history to be drafted in two of the country's major sporting leagues – Major League Baseball and the National Football League.

Creating history

In addition, 'Prime Time' Sanders is the only athlete in history to score a home run and touchdown in the same week and play in both a Super Bowl and World Series in his career.

NFL career

After having mixed success in Baseball, dropping between the MLB and the minor leagues, Sanders' NFL career hit the highest of heights.

Success in football

Sanders played 16 years in the NFL, winning numerous awards. He won two Super Bowls, NFL Defensive Player of the Year, six-time Pro Bowl First-team, and eight-time Pro Bowl.

Hall of Fame

After a glittering college and NFL career, 'Prime Time' would be inducted into the 2011 College Hall of Fame and the 2011 Pro Football Hall of Fame.

'Coach Prime'

Since retiring in 2005, 'Prime Time' has slowly turned into 'Coach Prime'.

Early years of coaching

Prior to his big coaching jobs at NCAA Division one school, 'Coach Prime' has had to earn his coaching stripes with his own Prime Prep Academy and Triple A Academy.

Future NFL coach?

With his high level of success at the college level as a Head Coach, it wouldn't seem too unfathomable to think Deion Sanders could be coaching in the NFL one day.

'No desire to coach rich men'

According to ClutchPoints, Sanders expressed, "I have no desire to coach rich men." He followed up saying, "I'd rather have an impact on young men in need of a direction."

Three-time Hall of Famer?

With the successful transition of 'Prime Time' to 'Coach Prime,' we may see the third induction into the Football Hall of Fame for Deion Sanders.
