Having now won the Premier League and preparation has begun for the FA Cup and Champions League Final, Manchester City has a chance to become the tenth team to win the domestic and European treble.

Standing in their way

City face Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley and Inter Milan in Istanbul for European glory.

The nine to do it

Here are the nine teams to win the treble since the European Cup was created in the 1950s!

Celtic, 1966/67

Celtic competed and won five trophies in the 1966/67 season, marking the only European Quintuple in history. In Lisbon, Celtic beat Inter Milan 2-1 in European Cup Final, with Stevie Chalmers scoring an 84th-minute winner.

Ajax 1971/72

Ajax won the European treble in 1971/72, led by superstar Johan Cruyff, who scored 33 goals in all competitions and scored a brace against Inter Milan in the European Cup final. Ajax lost one of 34 league games in the campaign.

PSV, 1987/88

PSV did what Ajax did in 1972, winning the Eredivisie, the KNVB Cup, and the European Cup. Eindhoven was coached by Guus Hiddink and possessed players like Ronald Koeman and Wim Kieft, with the latter scoring 29 goals.

Manchester United, 1998/99

The first treble to be won by an English side was the Sir Alex Ferguson-led Manchester United in 1999, winning the Premier League, FA Cup, and Champions League. The campaign will be remembered for the two injury-time goals in the European final to win 2-1.

FC Barcelona, 2008/09

As Pep Guardiola waits to see if his Manchester City team can win the treble, the Spanish manager's first season at Barcelona ended in what he is fighting for this season, securing the treble with Barcelona in 2009.

The front three

A front three of Samuel Eto'o, Lionel Messi, and Thierry Henry worked magic for Guardiola, helping them brush aside Manchester United in the Champions League final and secure La Liga and the Copa Del Rey in convincing fashion.

Inter Milan, 2009/10

Jose Mourinho masterminded Inter Milan to the club's first European treble in 2010, winning the Coppa Italia, Champions League, and the club's fifth consecutive Serie A title.

Milito

Diego Milito netted 30 goals in all competitions for Inter, including a brace against Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

Bayern Munich, 2012/13

In Jupp Heynckes' last campaign as Bayern Munich boss, Bayern became the first German team to win the European treble, defeating German rivals Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final at Wembley.

Records broken

Bayern broke the Bundesliga points record, securing 91 points, and clinched the title in the fewest games (28 matches).

Barcelona, 2014/15

Barcelona had potentially the most incredible team ever assembled for their 2015 treble-winning team, possessing a front three of Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar, while the midfield three was Sergio Busquets, Xavi, and Andreas Iniesta.

Beating the best

Barcelona's impeccable team beat Real Madrid to the La Liga title by two points and beat Juventus 3-1 in the Champions League final.

Bayern Munich, 2019/2020

The last team to win the treble was Hansi Flick's Bayern Munich team, winning the league by 13 points and securing the Champions League title against PSG.

Lewandowski

Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski scored 55 goals in all competitions for the German club, stepping up after legends Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery had left the club the previous year.
