Who will win the golden boot?

The Champions League has returned, and as always, the race to become the tournament's top scorer promises to be fiercely competitive.

Cristiano's record in danger?

Last year, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane topped the scoring charts with eight goals each. However, this 70th edition will bring a new format, featuring eight qualifying matches instead of six group-stage games. With this change, scoring numbers could skyrocket, and Cristiano Ronaldo’s single-season record of 17 goals might be under threat!

1. Erling Haaland – Manchester City

With 45 goals in 47 Champions League appearances, Erling Haaland is the clear favorite to claim this year’s top scorer title. The Norwegian striker could not only surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s all-time total, but might even break the 20-goal mark in a single edition.

2. Harry Kane - Bayern Munich

This year’s Champions League final will take place in Munich, and Harry Kane will be eager to be there. The English striker is determined to maintain his exceptional form with Bayern.

3. Kylian Mbappe – Real Madrid
When it comes to scoring goals, Kylian Mbappe is always in the conversation. Though he may not have fully settled into Madrid's system yet, the Frenchman is a prolific scorer and will be eager to make a strong impact in his debut season with the club.
4. Robert Lewandowski – FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona is a force to be reckoned with this season, and Robert Lewandowski seems to be enjoying a resurgence. The Polish striker will benefit from the support of Lamine Yamal and Raphinha, who are ready to provide him with excellent service.

5. Mohamed Salah - Liverpool

He missed out on the Champions League last season, but he's back in 2024. Mohamed Salah and the Reds have returned to Europe's biggest stage, and the Egyptian star is eager to continue his love affair with the iconic trophy.

6. Vinicius Junior – Real Madrid

While he may end up sharing the goals with Jude Bellingham and Kylian Mbappe, Vinícius Júnior remains a candidate for the top scorer title this year. Favourite for the Ballon d'Or for the 2023-2024 season, he will want to start off on the right foot.

7. Lautaro Martinez – Inter Milan

After an outstanding 2023-2024 season in Serie A, Lautaro Martinez now faces the challenge of proving himself in the Champions League. The Argentine striker, alongside Marcus Thuram, will be the primary offensive threat for the Italians.

8. Jude Bellingham – Real Madrid
Last season, Jude Bellingham nearly claimed the LaLiga top scorer title. With Kylian Mbappe now in the squad, the Englishman’s role may become less attack-focused, but it's always Bellingtime, and he’ll be ready to step up when needed.
9. Viktor Gyokeres – Sporting CP

The Swedish striker is nothing short of terrifying. After netting 29 goals and providing 10 assists last season in Portugal, Viktor Gyökeres could be a serious contender in the race for top scorer this year—depending on Sporting’s overall performance.
