Chicharito returned to Chivas de Guadalajara after four years in Los Angeles. The Mexican striker now returns to his childhood club, making a full loop to his legendary career. After a 14-year stint around the globe, Javier 'Chicharito' Hernández has returned home.

9 years old

Chicharito joined the youth ranks of Chivas when he was only 9 years old and there he grew and trained as one of the club's biggest stars, until September 9, 2006.

Scoring debut

It was at the age of 18 when he made his official debut with the first team in a great victory against Necaxa (4-0). 'Chicharito' scored the fourth goal, kickstarting his remarkable goalscoring career.

Impressive numbers

His first stint at Chivas lasted four season. From 2006 to 2010, the Guadalajara attacker played a total of 77 games, scoring 29 goals and giving 11 assists to his teammates.

A gigantic leap!

His performances on the pitch and his great scoring ability attracted many European giants, such as Manchester United who signed the Mexican striker for their 2010-2011 campaign.

 

 

Chicharito's best professional era

Chicharito played at Manchester United until 2015. A total of 157 games in which he scored 59 goals and gave 20 assists. Great numbers that marked the Mexican's best run as a professional.

 

A dream year at Real Madrid

Despite this, for the 2014-2015 season, Chicharito went on loan to Real Madrid to reinforce the Spanish club's offensive capabilities. There, he finished as the team's fifth scorer with 9 goals in 33 games – in addition to giving 9 assists.

After his loan, the Mexican would not play again for Manchester United, who sold him to Bayer Leverkusen, starting a new stage in his European career.

New experiences

The Mexican striker moved around after his short stint with Bayer Leverkusen. He returned to the Premier League as a West Ham player before moving on to La Liga where he joined Sevilla.

USA

After a long successful stint in Europe, 'Chicharito' was looking for a new horizon. Upon ending his 2020 season, he joined Los Angeles Galaxy where he would cause a major sensation in the MLS.

 

Success until his injury

Everything was looking great for the Mexican striker who was enjoying some great football in Los Angeles until his ACL injury which happened in his performance throughout his final season. He scored 38 goals in 79 games.

Big numbers and two titles

He was international for Mexico in 109 games, scoring 52 goals, giving two assists and winning two titles: the 2011 Concacaf Gold Cup and the 2015 Concacaf Cup.

Back to basics

Now, 'Chicharito' returns to his origins for one last dance with his childhood club.

With pride

And he does so standing like a star and wearing his shield like a veteran with pride. A story, that of the Chicharito of today, very different from that of that young man who one day left to conquer football in Europe.
