Euro 2004

A 19-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo came to prominence at Euro 2004, helping his Portugal side reach the final before losing to Greece in a shock upset 1-0.

Team of the Tournament

Ronaldo scored his first international goal for Portugal at the championships and was named in the Euro 2004 Team of the Tournament after a string of impressive performances. He finished the tournament with two goals.

Euro 2008

Off the back of winning the UEFA Champions League in 2008 with Manchester United, Euro 2008 was his first championship leading Portugal as the star man, but it failed at the hands of Germany.

Early exit

According to Bleacher Report, Portugal romped past through their first two group games before a shock loss to Switzerland in the final group encounter after resting nine players. In the first knockout round, Portugal lost to Michael Ballack's header 3-2. Ronaldo scored one goal.

Euro 2012

It was heartbreaking for Cristiano Ronaldo at the 2012 European Championships, losing to eventual winners Spain on penalties in the tournament's semi-final.

Euro 2020

At his last European Championships, 36-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo showed age is just a number, finishing as the championship top scorer with five goals for Portugal.
