The end (maybe?)

Taking his time

Per Fox Sports, Waller has been contemplating retirement since the end of the last NFL season and so far hasn’t attended any of the Giants’ offseason practices.

Coach’s support

Giants head coach Brian Daboll recently told Pro Football Talk, “I would say the same thing I said last month, let Darren take what he needs to take and once the decision is made, we'll go from there. We have conversations, obviously, but when Darren makes his decision, that's what we'll go with.”

Tough offseason

Waller has had a difficult time of late, with his high-profile relationship with WNBA star Kelsey Plum ending in divorce after a year of marriage, per CBS Sports.

Music video

Waller’s response to the divorce was to release a music video in which he appears to be stabbed in the back by a Kelsey Plum lookalike. Waller wrote “Creating always provides a mirror for me to grow and heal. So I give you a song written to me, by me,” on Instagram alongside his new song.

Mental health

Waller has become an advocate for mental health in recent times following his early-career substance abuse. Waller writes, “The beginning and maintenance of my sobriety journey brought about transformation in my mental health,” on the Better Universe Foundation website.

Long-term thinking

The Giants are seemingly prepared if Waller does choose to call it a day, drafting Theo Johnson from Penn State in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Wish him the best

Whatever decision Waller makes, we wish him the best given his struggles in recent times.
