Alex Collins passed away on Sunday the 13th of August, 2023. He was just 28. 

Collided with an SUV

The former Seahawk collided with an SUV whilst driving his motorbike in Lauderdale Lakes in Florida.

Pronounced dead at the scene

Emergency services were called, but unfortunately, Collins was pronounced dead at the scene.

Under investigation

Lauderdale Lakes Police released a report in which they noted Collins collided with the left-rear passenger door of the SUV whilst turning with the circumstances under investigation.

Five-year career

Collins spent five seasons in the NFL, playing for the Seattle Seahawks, who drafted him out of Arkansas, and the Baltimore Ravens. He was known for his ‘Irish jig’ celebration that endeared him to fans everywhere he played.

John Harbaugh’s statement

Long-time head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, John Harbaugh, released a statement in which he said, "Alex was a joy to be around and someone whose light shined brightly… I'll always remember him for being a great team-mate who had an uplifting spirit that impacted everyone he encountered."

Seahawks’ statement

The Seahawks also released a statement via their general manage John Scheider saying, "Alex's infectious smile and classic river dance skills will forever be missed, Alex would light up a room and was beloved by our entire building. He enjoyed life and attacked it on the football field."

Geno Smith sends his tribute

Quarterback Geno Smith who shared a locker room with Collins tweeted, “Life so crazy man. Fly high my boy until we meet again.” in tribute.

Russell Wilson’s tribute

Wilson, who also played with Collins in Seattle shared his own tribute in which he said, “To one of my favorite teammates. You brought joy to every huddle. Keep Dancin’ in Heaven. Love you AC. Forever missed.”
