Transferred to hospital

The Swedish international, who has collected 47 caps for this country, was transferred to Aarhus University Hospital where he has since been on a ventilator, according to The Guardian.

Acute brain disease

After being transferred to the hospital, it was confirmed that Olsson had been affected by an acute disease in the brain, which had not been caused by self-harm of any kind.

A diagnosis

FC Midtjylland confirmed that Denmark's 'leading medical experts' were working quickly to get Olsson a diagnosis, doing so at the beginning of March.

Absence from the team

Olsson's club was forced to break the news of his condition due to media pressure in Denmark about his absence from the team in their 3-2 away win against Aarhus on the 25th of February.

Statement

The club released a statement: "Everyone at FC Midtjylland is of course deeply affected by Kristoffer's sudden illness, and our thoughts and full support go to Kristoffer and his family."
