Tragedy has hit Australia and its cycling community. According to News.com.au, former pro cyclist Rohan Dennis has been arrested for the murder of his wife Melissa Hoskins, who was a professional cyclist herself.

It happened in Adelaide

The fatal incident reportedly took place right in front of the couple's home in Adelaide. Police say Dennis was driving a ute and hit Hoskins, who was seriously injured.

Only 32

According to The Adelaide Advertiser, Hoskins was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries at the age of 32.

Trial in March

Dennis has been charged "with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without due care and endangering life," as per News.com.au, and will face trial on March 13.

Both raced at the highest level

The former two-time world time trial champion and Hoskins shared a passion for cycling, and both raced professionally at the highest level.

2012 and 2016 Olympics

Hoskins herself competed in the London Olympics in 2012 and the Rio Olympics in 2016, while Dennis was one of the best time trialists of his generation, winning stages in all three Grand Tours.

Two children

The couple got married in February 2018 and have two children together.
