Former Super Bowl winner Matt Ulrich dead at 41
Former Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman Matt Ulrich has died aged 41.
Colts owner Jim Irsay announced the news on X, saying, ““I am heartbroken to hear of the passing of Matt Ulrich. Matt was with us only two seasons, but left his mark on many. Great guy, I hear he was a great dad—and he was a Super Bowl champ. My prayers to his family.
Ulrich was only in the NFL for two seasons, in 2005 and 2006, but was a member of the Colts’ Super Bowl-winning team. Playing five games during the 06 season.
After the 2006 season, Ulrich called time on his football career, Montanasports.com, “I’d love to tell you that I could have played for another decade. But the fact of the matter is, and I’ve probably said this to you before, that the NFL stands for ‘Not For Long.’”
Ulrich successfully moved into business in the fitness industry with Dexa Fit and Winning Edge Athletics before taking a job at Profitable Ideas Exchange.
The DailyMail have reported a fundraiser has been launched to support Ulrich’s family following his death. All the money is sent directly to his wife, Alison and so far has raised over $30,000 including a $20,000 donation from Ulrich’s former CEO at PIE.
So far there have been no reports of what caused Ulrich’s death.
