South African-born Brynard Stander bravely chased a 16-year-old who was allegedly involved in a stabbing in Perth, Western Australia.

“Critically injured”

Per Channel 7, there were two victims involved in the stabbing, with one being, “stabbed in the abdomen,” and the other suffering slashes on his wrist and thigh.

Drug deal gone wrong

Channel 9 has reported the incident began as a “a drug deal gone wrong.”

“Large kitchen knife”

Stander, who witnessed the incident, told reporters he believed one of the teens was holding a “large kitchen knife”.

Gave chase

Stander, who stands 1.9m (6’3”), 106 kg (234 lbs) was driving past when he saw the incident. Channel 9 reports once he saw the incident, he immediately excited his vehicle and attempted to chase the teen down.

“I'm going to call the police”

Stander told reporters, “I approached him, and I said, “I saw you had a knife, and I've also got cameras at the front of my house, so you should stop, I'm going to call the police”, following the incident.

“I can run quite far”

Stander, known for his abrasive and committed play continued, “We were running, I said to him, “Mate, if you want to keep running, I can run quite far, so I suggest you just stop and wait for the police.”

“I’m going to get him some help”

Stander’s statement concluded, “This was all on the run and eventually, he stopped at ... the park. I encouraged him to sit down (and said) 'I’m going to get him some help'.”

Arrests made

Stander was able to stay with the teen long enough for police to arrive, with one of the alleged attackers arrested quickly before the other was found hiding in a bush, per Channel 7.

“Horrific crime”

Western Australia Premier Roger Cook called the incident a “horrific crime,” with the two alleged attackers charged with grievous bodily harm and one additionally charged with aggravated armed robbery, per Channel 7.
